Description of the opportunity (what specific activities will the volunteer be doing?):

Ripon ‘My Neigbourhood’ project is a partnership project involving Public, Private and Voluntary sector organisations who work together to improve the lives of people living in the Ripon Minster ward.
Each year the ‘My Neigbourhood’ project holds a one day public event to celebrate all that Ripon has to offer.
We are looking for an organized and enthusiastic volunteer to help coordinate this annual event. You will be working with the ‘My Neighbourhood’ team to plan, organize and promote a program of activities for an event to take place in March 2017.
  • Organise meetings, agendas and notes.
  • Communicate with ‘Sights and Sounds’ event team.
  • Investigate involving new partners in the event.
  • Assist the ‘Sights and Sounds’ event team to organise and deliver the event.
  • Develop marketing and social media promotion.

Should prospective volunteers already have specific skills? e.g. able to use Microsoft Word, someone sociable who enjoys meeting and talking to people of all ages, no experience needed, etc. Do you have a minimum time commitment?):

  • This is a Ripon event the candidate will need to attend up to 5 planning meetings in Ripon in the months leading up to the event.
  • Induction and training will be given.
  • Opportunity to develop practical event management skills.
  • Valuable work experience.
  • An enjoyable volunteering experience.
  • An opportunity to work with multiple Pubic, Private and Voluntary sector partners.
  • Candidate can work from home and/or will be provided with access to desk and telephone at a partner location.
