Housing Manager

Responsible to:Assistant Director of Housing

Responsible for: Operational delivery of Housing Services

(Housing Services include; Community Safety; Customer Contact ; Private Sector Leasing and NeighbourhoodTeams)

Overall Purpose:To provide a cost effective, responsive customer focused and quality housing service.

Main responsibilities:

  1. To advise the Assistant Director of Housing on all housing services matters;
  1. To manage the Association's housing management services to ensure that they are developed to meet the needs of customers;
  1. To maximise the involvement of the Association's residents in conjunction with the residents panel and prospective residents in its housing service and ensure that customers are consulted on a regular basis;
  1. To ensure that residents and prospective residents receive the maximum possible information about services provided by the Association;
  1. To advise the Assistant Director of Housing on the development of housing policies and procedures with the aim of minimising waste and maximising value adding processes;
  1. To ensure that the housing service is delivered in accordance with Melin’s approved policies and procedures;
  1. To ensure that the housing service complies with relevant legislation, good practice and regulatory requirements and to advise the Assistant Director of Housing of any changes required.
  1. To assist the Assistant Director of Housing to promote, implement and monitor good health and safety practices within the service.
  1. To ensure that the housing serviceis delivered in accordance with annually agreed performance targets;
  1. To ensure that statistical reports for the Assistant Director of Housing are produced on a timely basis.
  1. To prepare a draft housing services budget and to manage the area housing service in accordance with the annual budget approved by the Board;
  1. To liaise with other departments on a regular basis to ensure that general operational matters are carried out effectively and close joint working takes place.
  1. To liaise and maintain good working relationships with all relevant external agencies;
  1. To directly and indirectly manage all housing services staff and site based housing staff;
  1. To contribute to Melin’s corporate activities as and when required.
