Registering for New York State Teacher Certification Exams (NYSTCE)

Students graduating in May 2014 and after will take the following certification exams:

·  Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST)

·  Revised Content Specialty Test (CST)

·  Educating All Students Test (EAS)

·  Teacher Portfolio Assessment (edTPA)

***Please Note***

New York State is making a gradual transition towards a computer- only testing system. Computer-based tests are offered Monday-Saturday at approved testing sites. Seating is limited and you must plan accordingly. Be sure to sign up early.

Steps to sign up for tests:

v  If you have not created a TEACH account, do so now by visiting http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/

v  Visit the NYSTCE website, http://www.nystce.nesinc.com

v  In the left-hand column open the “Registering to Test” tab

v  In the dropdown menu, click on Internet Registration

v  Click on the “Register Now” link located under “How to Register”

v  At the login window, login with your TEACH account information

v  Click on “Register to Test”

v  Depending on what test you are taking, you may only be able to take it on the computer. Otherwise choose between paper-based or computer-based pending on your preference and availability

v  Follow the prompts after choosing either paper-based, computer-based or ATS-P (edTPA video)

v  Print out your registration form for your records and to bring to the test

***Please Note***

Childhood Education 1-6 majors take the Multi-Subject CST. Adolescence Education 7-12 majors will take the CST in their content area (English, Math, etc.).

Exams currently only offered through COMPUTER-BASED testing
