Reader-Writer –Thinker “Poster” DUE: June11, 2014

DIRECTIONS:

(Refer to your Portfolio for the artifacts you will explore and quote from)

Although I am only collecting the final draft, make sure to lay out your ideas in rough draft form before you finalize them. Check spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. Focus on those parts of reading, writing, and thinking that are meaningful to you. Use this poster to showcase who you are as an 8th grade reader, writer and thinker.

Include the following information on one 8 ½ x 11” paper (both sides); type, size 12

WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON: (Historical Background -- Set the scene for who you are!)

A picture of you (photo, self-drawn or realistic cartoon)

A 2-3 sentence autobiography of what is important in your life.

Artwork, especially of your own creation (Optional)

WHO YOU ARE AS A READER:

How you have changed /grown as a reader this year

A statement OR drawing about the kind of reader you are now.

A favorite poem or excerpt from it, and WHY you liked it, using poetic devices to explain WHY you liked it.

An excerpt from a favorite book OR a line of your own explaining what made it such a good read (include the author) –use book covers to show this) from EACH trimester and WHY you liked it, plus a passage that gives a “taste” of each author’s language and style. (You may find ideas in “golden lines” from past reading letters, One Pagers, Scored Discussions, etc.)

A quote about writing OR statement about yourself as a writer. --Can be a labeled drawing

A 3-4 sentence excerpt from your best writing from EACH trimester.

How you have changed as a writer this year --Refer to your September Writing History letter you wrote to Ms. K. and peruse all your writings from the year before you write this.
