Dear High School Principals and Career Counselors,

The Oklahoma City Chapter of The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) has approved $25,000 for freshman scholarships to be awarded in 2013-14 to qualified, graduating high school seniorsin SPE’s Oklahoma City coverage area.

To qualify, the candidates must be pursuing a Petroleum Engineering Degree or must be the Son or Daughter of an SPE Member enrolled in a math or science. SPE has distributed these scholarships since 1998 and the program has been a huge success.

We need your help in finding talented young people.Successful candidates will exhibit superior communication skills and display ability in math and the sciences. The awards will be distributed when the recipient is registered and declared as a full time college freshman in an accredited university. Applications must be received by March 27th. Candidates will be notified by April11th of their application status. An awards luncheon will be held on Thursday April 18th at the monthly SPE Luncheon in Oklahoma City.

Any scholarship awarded by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Inc. is contingent upon the recipient's being officially registered at an accredited university and enrolled in a curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. The scholarship is paid in two equal portions at the beginnings of the first two semesters. The above information is required for you to be considered for this scholarship.
