1  Description of the services

1.1  Executive overview

The provision of Project Management Accelerated Short Courses, PM Diploma and Eskom Project Management Certificate Programme on an “as and when required” basis for Eskom Academy of Learning (EAL)

The two models as outlined below provide direction for training and development of PM Community.

A learning pathway and career path are outlined below.

The rest of unmarked components of this career path and the learning pathway do not form part of this request. However they can be regarded as the feeders of the (2 and 3 above) which are managed by the School of Project Management (only).

Accreditation:

Accreditation of our offering is the priority of our obligations during this financial year and beyond. Therefore it is our commitment to align all our offerings provided by our reputable, accredited learning partners to offer solutions that are NQF level based training, and Skills programmes.

The solutions address generic and specific project management programmes at Basic (B Above) and Intermediary (I above) proficiency levels. This is in alignment with the project management career path as provided above.

In accordance to the graphic above (Career/Learning path) it clearly depicts that Foundational programmes (Fundamentals in Project Management) are a prerequisites of a 12 months programme and for an 18 months Diploma Programme. However, the distinction between 12 months and 18 months is the level of qualification that a learner would possess upon completion of fundamentals programme, as the intake prerequisites are not at the same level. The short courses are optional as they provide an in-depth content from fundamentals programme. The short courses are exclusively packaged for specialists who are keen to broaden their sphere of knowledge ina specific discipline they function in. Hence, assessment tools will be adopted and utilised to ensure that the right people do undergo short course training.

Decentralised/Regionalised Learning:

EAL Subscribes to a decentralised and regionalised based training delivery. As a result training must be conducted within the regions where it’s needed to avoid travelling, accommodation and other operational costs.

It is in this regard that this contract seeks for multiple providers, where possible, to deliver training specifically at the following major sites: Western Cape, Kwa Zulu Natal, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Free State, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape.

2  Specification and description of the services

Provision of Project Management Accelerated Short Courses, Project Management Diploma and Eskom Project Management Certificate Programme.

Eskom Academy of Learning has adopted ADDIE Process. ADDIE is a framework that intents to plan and deliver learning in a context and logical manner. The application of ADDIE process will be integrated into the short programme delivery. This is discussed briefly below.

Out of Scope – Analysis, Design and Development

The reason behind “Out of Scope” and Conditions:

·  From analysis point of view, internal engagements have taken place with the relevant stakeholders to determine the delivery of training eg. Learners, proficiency levels, courses, etc.

·  It is envisaged that the successful vendor will provide Eskom with their existing training material hence there is no need for design and development.

·  Training material must be of such a standard that it facilitates learning and add to future reference for learners and cultivates independent learning process to the learner.

·  As far as possible Eskom’s case studies will be incorporated and used.

·  To minimise costs, the use of CDs is preferred unless the need for printed manuals is communicated to accommodate diverse employees operating at a basic levels.

·  The final product should be standardised, cost effective and with good use of allocated time.

·  Reputable and accredited facilitators /lectures should have been part of the development team.

·  Eskom will sign-off developed material.

In Scope:

Implementation

·  EAL’s attendance register shall be utilised and be completed by the learner throughout the duration of the programme (daily completion).

·  Facilitators must provide timeous feedback to the training co-ordinator.

·  Utilization of the latest learning methodologies & technology preferred.

·  Reputable and accredited facilitators and lecturers will be contracted to facilitate all training interventions.

·  Prompt responses to all questions or concerns will be the norm. (answers to be provided preferably prior to the end of the course).

·  A block based learning structure will be followed.

·  The training will use sites of the organisation OR any other sites secured by Eskom.

·  The training provider will be liable for all training equipment unless cleared with the training co-ordinator.

·  All evaluation will be results driven indicating gaps for growth and advocating continuous improvement.

·  Pre and Post assessments will form part of the evaluation process to reassume competency gaps closed. This also includes formative and summative assessments.

·  Evaluation results will be available two weeks to Eskom after submission dates from students for informed decision or learning provided.

·  Leaner evaluation will be used to determine the success/failure of the training and feedback shall be made available to the providers for continuous improvement where essential.

·  EAL’s standard evaluation mechanism shall be used at all times to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the training provided.

To capacitate the project management community on one of the critical dimensions of project management, which are practical risk management principles and processes as well as empowering them on the tools and techniques.

Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to manage all form of risks and be able to:

To capacitate the project management community on one of the critical dimension of project management, which are project insurance principles and processes as well as empowering them on the tools and techniques.

Attendees will be able to understand the following:

·  Key insurance covers for the CAPEX programme

·  Principal controlled insurance- introduction and concern

·  Indemnities and unlimited liabilities

·  Additional keys insurance considerations

Ø  Knowledge management in projects

Duration: 2 to 3 days

Purpose

To equip Eskom project management fraternity with enhanced skills and practical “hands-on” experience in applying Knowledge Management tools and techniques.

Capacitate the project management critical dimensions on one of the critical dimensions of project management, which are Knowledge Management principles as well as empowering them on the tools and techniques.

Learning Outcomes:

·  Demonstrate the usage and application of KM tools and techniques during a project life cycle

·  Ability to capture, share and re-use lessons learned across projects and teams
