Project Background
Researchers at the Center for the Promotion of Health in the New England Workplace have completed field tests of instructional materials to support implementation of a worksite participatory health and safety program. The purpose of the program is to engage employees in generating comprehensive, integrated solutions to address health-related concerns such as stress, overweight, and musculoskeletal issues in the workplace. CPH-NEW is preparing to develop a training program to teach practitioners how to use these program materials and to develop their group facilitation skills. An instructional designer is needed to assist with designing the training methods and materials, as well as writing web content to support the training program.
Scope of work
I.Design a facilitator training program with materials to help employer organizations adopt the use of CPH-NEW participatory program materials. The training program will be:
-accessible to a diverse group of employers,
-based on evidence in training/education literature,
-pre-tested with a sample of employer and practitioner representatives, and
-delivered cost efficiently using electronic methods where feasible (video clips, webinars, other web-interfaces).
Outputs—Written training plan with learning objectives and activities, trainer guide and participant materials (print and web-based), reference list to substantiate use of selected training methodologies, and a written summary of feedback on planned training activities, methodologies, technologies, etc.
II.Design evaluation methods and materials, recommend methods for ongoing monitoring and follow up.
Outputs--Training evaluation instruments and scoring scheme, data collection plan for ongoing monitoring and technical support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training programs in diverse workplaces
Certification, degree or equivalent in instructional technology
Experienced in using web-based technology for training
Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills
Detail oriented and well organized, with a mature, positive, and professional demeanor
Graduate level trainingin health, safety,industrialpsychologyor related field
Supervision
Attend on-campus meetings (2-4 hrs/month) with university researchers for program orientation, project planning and coordination, and progress reporting.

Location and resources
Consultant will work from his/her own office using personal computing equipment.
Regular, on-campus meetings will be needed.
A graduate research assistant will be available to support project activities on a part time basis. The CPH-NEW Outreach Director will provide access to project contacts as needed to fulfill scope of work.
