URBAN PLANNING PROJECTS:

•Preparation of Action Plan for Heritage Management of Deulwadi Precinct– Uran, Raigad District, Maharashtra

Sector – Heritage Management

Client – MMR HCS (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Heritage Conservation Society)

Project brief – The Deulwadi Precinct delineated by the MMR HCS possessed ten temples in the Deulwadi Street at its core. But due to lack of any heritage regulations or notifications the precinct faced a great threat of being eaten up by the urbanization pressure from Mumbai. Hence the present initiative was undertaken by MMR HCS to develop innovative strategies for the management of heritage in the delineated precinct

Responsibilities – Preparing presentations, report writing, Identification of projects to be carried out for the conservation of the precinct, preparation of Block Estimates, phasing and drafting conservation guidelines for the precinct

•Performance Assessment System (PAS)

Sector – Management of Urban Service Delivery Mechanism (Water Supply and Sanitation)

Client – The project was funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and co-ordinated by CEPT, Ahmedabad;

UMC was handed over the responsibility of carrying out performance assessment for 166 ULBs in Gujarat and preparing Performance Improvement Plans for respective local bodies

Project brief – The project dealt with assessment of services delivered by the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) namely – water supply, sanitation and sewerage, solid waste management and storm water drainage. After finding the gaps and their probable reasons, solutions and strategies were to be proposed in the Performance Improvement Plans for respective ULBs.

Responsibilities – Data collection, slum surveys, data analysis, delivering presentations, consultation with the ULB staff and preparation of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for respective ULBs

•City Development Plans (CDPs)

Sector – Urban Infrastructure Planning

Client – Madhya Pradesh Government

Project brief – The project dealt with preparation of City Development Plans for seven cities of Mandsaur District, Madhya Pradesh: Nagri, Malhargarh, Narayangarh, Sitamau, Shyamgarh, Garoth and Bhanpura

Responsibilities – Data collection, conducting workshops with the stakeholders as per the scheduled intervals, surveys for infrastructure assessment, data analysis and writing reports for every stage and delivering presentations; both in English and Hindi

•Information-Education-Communication Campaign for Solid Waste Management (IEC)

Sector – Campaigns for Public Awareness

Client – Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC)

Project brief – The project dealt with working out various strategies for bringing awareness in the people of Ahmedabad through short films screened in theatres, animated toon characters displayed at various traffic junctions in Ahmedabad, assignments and games to be undertaken in schools for developing awareness in children, etc.

Responsibilities – Data collection, surveys at public places, designing of options for mascot, reviewing and giving feedback on the documentary (short film) for public awareness.
