ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The Athlete of the year, at both Junior and Senior Level is awarded to the student who stands out above the rest as making the best overall contribution to athletics at Carihi. These athletes demonstrate a commitment to their school sports that constantly show them to be excellent role models to their peers. Endeavours at the community level are not taken into consideration for this prestigious award.

The Junior and Senior Athlete of the year then is given to the student athlete that averaged the highest marks from their various coaches evaluation. One coach does not determine the winner, rather the feedback received from the various coaches the student athlete has worked under. In general terms an athlete who has represented the school in more than one major sport will outscore an athlete who has only one school sport. Evaluations took into consideration sportsmanship, leadership, athletic ability, team contribution, and work ethic. In addition citizenship in the classroom and school in general was also influential in making these decisions.

We have a number of sports teams at Carihi. Some teams require a greater level of commitment than others. The evaluation is weighed according.
