Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor or manager of institutional building and grounds operations.
  3. Must demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  4. Must possess oral and written communication skills.
  5. Must possess proven leadership, team-building, and managerial skills.
  6. Must have a working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding personal safety and environmental protection.
  7. Must have expert knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and processes.
  8. Must have a familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory.
  9. Knowledge of budgets and the budget process, including the ability to operate within an approved budget.
  10. Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district’s insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
  11. Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, Act 24 Clearance, FBI Clearance (self-paid).
  12. Successful completion of post-offer drug screening (self-paid).
  13. Must Submit a Letter of Interest, Resume and Standard Application.

Performance Responsibilities

1.Facilitate and direct the activities of the Maintenance/Custodial staff and the District Security staff in order to maintain all district facilities and grounds in a condition of operating excellence to ensure students and staff are provided with a safe and clean environment in which to learn and work.

2.Make recommendations for supplies, work orders, order requests, or purchases requested to maintain the buildings.

3. Conduct detailed regular inspections of buildings and grounds, and establish maintenance and repair schedules for district facilities.

4. Work with contractors and appropriate Administration to ensure completion of scheduled construction and renovation projects.

5. Supervise custodial and maintenance staff and perform annual evaluations.

6. Supervise the District Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

7. Assist in the selection, assignment, scheduling, training, and evaluation of custodial staff.

8. Select, assign, schedule, train and evaluate maintenance and ground staff.

9. Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.

10. Ensure that all activities conform to government regulations protecting the health, safety, and right of employees and the public (including but not limited to asbestos, hazardous chemicals, access to buildings by the handicapped, and playground safety).

11. See that district policies are observed during all activities.

12. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.

13. Oversee the remodeling and renovation of building structures.

14. Develop and maintain building and grounds budget for all programs.

15. Develop and maintain projected repair of replacement schedule for each building –Updated annually.

16. Supervise the periodic testing of electrical and mechanical components and controls to ensure their safe operation.

17. Establish a regular preventative maintenance program for the HVAC systems.

18. Submit a monthly report for Buildings and Grounds Committee meetings.

19. Maintain all district vehicles.

20. Maintain contracts for services in building, i.e. security systems, fire protection, and inspections.

21. Supervise snow removal at all district facilities.

22. Schedule and supervise private contractors who are performing jobs for the district.

23. Develop and maintain vacation schedule for custodial staff.

24. Hold monthly Buildings and Grounds Staff Meetings.

25. Develop specifications for work to be done or equipment to be purchased and work with the Business Manager to advertise publicly for sealed bids when required.

26. Maintain an effective safety and HAZMAT training program for custodians.

27. Maintain Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

28. Maintain all buildings in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

29. Establish and maintain the Integrated Pest Management Program.

30. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent in accordance with school district policies and practices.
