PositionSummary:

TheYouthoutreachworkerprovidesculturallyrelevantoutreach,engagement,andsupportservicestotransitionagedyouthandthosewhowork/livewiththem,designedtopromotesupportservices.Theyalsoprovideadvocacyto programparticipantsandcoordinationwith the community andcollaborativepartners. Thisworkerisanindividualwithexperienceasa“system”youth,orafamilymemberofa“system”youth,andbeculturallycompetentinthesub-culturesofLGBTQyouth,homelessyouth,and/orfosteryouth.He/shewillprovidesupportiveservicesinthecommunityaswellasattheCRHoffices.Theworkerwillalsoparticipateincommunityoutreachandeducationactivitiesandco-facilitatepsycho-educational,social,andothergroupsasneedsareidentified.

EssentialDuties andResponsibilities:

  • Provideculturallyrelevantoutreachactivitiesdesignedto promotesupport servicestoyouthandTAY.
  • Provideorlinksuicidepreventionsupportservicestoindividualsfeelingdisconnectedoratriskforsuicide.
  • Becomeupdatedoncommunityresources.
  • Providegroupsforyouthseekingtheirinput, advice,and involvement.
  • Seekyouthinput onfurtherdesignof thisprogram.
  • Initiate,organize,and/or participateincommunityevents andeducationalopportunitiesrelatedtowellnessandpreventionservices.
  • Provideculturalbrokerage,andadvocacyforindividualsandfamiliestofacilitateaccurateunderstandingofthe participant riskandprotectivefactorsandappropriateserviceplanningandaccess.
  • Identifyanddevelopcommunityresourcesandnaturalsupportsystemsforprogramparticipantsandfamilies.Makereferrals,assistwithservicelinkage,andeducateindividualsandfamiliesonhowtoaccessandusecommunityresourcesandservices.
  • Participateincommunitymeetingsasarepresentativeoftheagency.Actasaliaisonfortheagencytovariousother communityagenciesandorganizations.
  • Recruitcommunitymembersto participateinwellnessandpreventionactivities.
  • Attendandparticipateintrainingsandmeetingsasrequired.
  • EnterandmaintainservicedatainAPCCdatacollectionsystemformodelfidelity,evaluation,andaccuratebilling.
  • Completerequireddocumentationinanaccuratemanner, andwithinrequiredtimelines.
  • Serveasanadvocatefor youthat alltimes.
  • Perform other relatedworkasassigned.

Toperformthisjobsuccessfully,anindividualmustbeabletoperformeachessentialdutysatisfactorily.Therequirementslistedbelowarerepresentativeoftheknowledge,skill,and/orabilityrequired.Abilitytoworkvariedhoursincludingnights,weekendsandholidays.Reasonableaccommodationsmaybemadetoenableindividualswithdisabilitiestoperform theessentialfunctions.

Education/Experience:

  • Possession of a highschooldiplomaorgeneraleducationdegree(GED)isrequired.
  • Possession of a Bachelor’sDegreefrom anaccreditedcollegeor universityispreferred.
  • Musthaveexperienceofa“system”youth, or familymemberofa“system” youth.
  • Musthaveculturalexpertisewith TAYsub-culturesincludingLGBTQ, homeless,andfoster youth.

Licenses,Certifications,Registrations:

  • Mustpossessa validCaliforniaDriver’sLicense,areliableautomobile,andautoinsurance.
  • Mustbeat least21 yearsofage.
  • MustpassFirstAidcertificationcoursebeforestartofemployment.CertificationcanbecompletedthroughtheChildren’sReceivingHome.
  • MustpassCPRwithinthefirstsixweeksofemployment
  • Must pass BloodbornePathogensandTherapeuticCrisisIntervention(TCI)certificationcoursesofferedthroughtheChildren’sReceivingHomewithinthefirstthreemonthsof employment.
  • Must maintain TCI, CPR, First Aid and BBP Certification throughout employment.
  • Must complete online Mandated Reporter Training within first week of employment.

Knowledge,SkillsandOtherAbilities:

  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office Suite and Web Browsers.
  • Ability to read, speak, understand, analyze and interpret documents such as client safety/treatment plans, assessment materials and procedure manuals in the English language.

Whileperformingthedutiesofthisjob,the employeeisregularlyrequired tostand;walk;usehandsandtalkorhear.Fine motor skills such as typing, the use of a computer mouse and telephone handset is required.Employeeisfrequentlyrequiredtoreachwithhandsandarms.Theemployeeisrequiredtosit,stoop,kneel and crouch.Theemployeemustoccasionallyliftand/ormoveupto30pounds.Specificvisionabilitiesrequiredbythisjobincludeclosevision,distance vision,peripheral vision,depth perception and abilityto adjust focus.
