POSITION TITLE: Security and Facilities Director

DEPARTMENT: Security and Facilities operations

POSITION STATUS: 12 month, full-time, exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, carpentry and painting skills

  • At least 5 years demonstrated professional work experience on at least one of the primary fields relating to this position:  Law enforcement  Security  Risk management  Fire service  Emergency managementSome construction experience
  • Proven ability to work toward stringent deadlines
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of project management
  • Experience in construction, maintenance and all facets of facility operation
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties.

JOB SUMMARY:Overall responsible for the day-to-day security and facility related operations, with budget accountability. Maintains a safe and secure environment for students, employees and visitors by developing and implementing safety and security policies, access control procedures, accident prevention efforts, fire safety, emergency management, parking control and traffic enforcement. Oversees the construction, maintenance, repair and upkeep of the school’s buildings, grounds and capital equipment in compliance with the school mission and strategic plans.

B. Essential Functions

  1. Report and make recommendations to Senior Management regarding project and management strategies as it relates to school facilities and security processes
  2. Ensure implementation of effective facility and security management policies for HTEA and act as first point of contact regarding same
  3. Provide security oversight for the school community through patrolling and monitoring of school building and grounds to deter, detect, report and stop violations of law or school policies.
  4. Detects, investigates and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles and activities.
  5. Assists administration in crisis and emergency situations.
  6. Maintains security records, logs and reports.
  7. Oversee and continually ensure compliance and safety related to school vehicles and assets
  8. Review, implement and maintain a disaster recovery plan for both school locations
  9. Determines and communicates security policies and procedures by studying organization operations and schedules; establishes internal controls; conducts inspections as appropriate; reports potential hazards to appropriate departments; creates and updates school policies and Standard Operating Procedures, safety and security manuals; coordinates and conducts training sessions for, staff, parents and students.
  10. Coordinates school safety compliance with federal, state and local regulations by studying existing and new requirements and overseeing and enforcing school-wide adherence to requirements
  11. Contributes to team effort by integrating safety, security and emergency preparedness measures into the organization’s daily practices in a manner supportive of other departments and functions.
  1. Coordinates safety planning and practice to support academic processes of each HTEA campus by creatively implementing best practices in safety, security and emergency preparedness with proper adaptation to the environment, creativity and innovation.
  2. Review and manage all operational management systems including preventive and corrective maintenance, custodial contract works and unscheduled maintenance
  3. Prepare and maintain building capacity data, continually plan ahead for changes in enrollment or school activities that will impact the school.
  4. Plan and manage capital project work, ensuring that work is progressing as planned, cost is kept within budgets and work quality is of expected standard
  5. Negotiate with service providers and contractors in operations relating to facilities and securities to effect cost reductions
  6. Perform all duties as requested.

E. Physical Demands/ Work Environment

Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, key a two-way radio, operate a keyboard, and use a lock and key, hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; articulate information in an emergency situation; use physical agility and strength to defend self and detain persons using force if necessary; and have the visual acuity necessary to observe and comprehend student movement. Must be able to lift and move 40 pounds.

Duties are normally performed inside a school/ classroom environment and outdoors in all weather conditions.
