Job Title: Assistant Director for Early Head Start/Head Start Exempt

Department: Division of Children and Families

Supervisor: Executive Director

Function: To assist in the planning , implementation and coordination of the Early Head Start Child

Care Partnerships Grant and Head Start/Early Head Start

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education/Formal Training: Preferably Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education,

Organizational Management or Social Work.

2. Work Experience: Experience in administration and supervision; relevant experience in working with disadvantaged children; minimum of 3 years of teaching or child care experience .

3. Aptitudes: Ability to administer and manage multi-funded programming; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; grant-writing abilities.

4. Essential Responsibilities:

a. Assist in the planning, coordination, administration and evaluation of the programs.

b. Supervise and evaluate the C&F management, administrative and coordinating staff.

c. Assist in budget oversight and requirements of all Head Start and Early Head Start grants.

d. Plan and evaluate Head Start, Early Head Start and other C&F programs assuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, North Carolina licensing requirements and NAEYC recommended guidelines.

e. Serve as advisor to program committees, councils and consortia.

f. Assess in the implementation of an ongoing monitoring process that assures specific program objectives and activities are completed in a timely manner including an annual program self-assessment.

g. Execute all administrative procedures and financial considerations.

h. Establish and maintain an internal communication system including but not limited to: 1) a reporting system that generates periodic reports of activities and progress towards program objectives, 2) systematic and periodic reports for advisory committees, councils, staff, parents and board and 3) an internal record system which assures compliance with all funding regulations.

i. Represent C&F programs at local, state and national meetings and conferences.

j. Assist in the development for re-funding and initial proposals needed for program operations.

k. Execute agency employment practices for all C&F staff.

l. Oversee the development and updates of the Community Assessment and assure that CA information is used to determine: 1) the grantee’s philosophy and its long and short range program objectives, 2) the type of component services and program options needed in the community, 3) the recruitment areas to be served and 4) the appropriate locations for centers and service areas.

m. Cooperate with the Director in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with other community agencies.

n. Support WAGES mission and programs.

o .Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director for Children and Families.

$55,000-$60,000
