This notice is submitted in accordance with the Promotion Policies of the Amarillo Independent Schools relating to the posting of certain vacancies, the following is submitted:

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Maintains buildings and equipment for the district. Work involves repairing of electrical equipment. Work includes identifying, diagnosis and repair malfunctions in all areas of electrical equipment. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with school officials, supervisors, and co-workers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

A high school diploma or GED

Texas Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician License

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to record and deliver information.

Ability to explain procedures and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English.

Ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.

Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.

Ability to correspond with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

Must have knowledge of the principles of electrical, mechanical systems, low voltage, Networking,

Fire Alarms, Telephones and Security Systems.

General proficiency for the use of mechanics tools.

General proficiency in the use and operation of personal computers.

Ability to maintain simple logs and records, as well as the ability to generate reports.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.

Work Conditions:

Mental Demands:

Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, lists, forms, work orders, schematic electrical plans, etc.

Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, lists, work orders, etc., using prescribed format.

Requires the ability to think clearly and sensibly, to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations

where only limited standardizations exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be physically able to perform manual labor such as, dig ditches, lift heavy materials and use large hand tools.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment which includes motor vehicle, machines of all sizes, vacuum

pumps, mechanics tools, etc.

Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10

pounds of force constantly to repair and/or move equipment and objects.

Requires the ability to coordinate hand and eyes rapidly and accurately in using small hand tools.

Ability to work using ladders/lifts at various heights.

Minimum Experience:

At least four years in electrical trade.
