*Please keep this information confidential. This chart was completed when UND was choosing between the two companies for fall of 2010. They chose AL for campus-wide, and then bought a couple indiv. licenses w/ lynda for their web design folks.

Atomic Learning / lynda.com
LDAP – big for ND(wanted a single sign-on)
CAS
Shibboleth / N/A With lynda’s special pricing such as simultaneous concurrent licensing – anyone not within their IP range cannot get in- that means “distance learners” would not be able to access this. Users that are in range would be able to log in.
AL provides granular tracking / The simultaneous licensing does not allow for ANYtracking
Assessments / None
Assign and Recommend training
Direct and HTML linking / None
None
Assistive Technology – important to ND as they are being pushed
to address accessible technology
Custom available to upload, house and track own training

Blackboard 9.1-over 100 new tutorials and more coming / Blackboard 9.1- Zero training as they have no longer have a contract
Pause in tutorial and pick up where left off – / Offers to pick up tutorial where user left off. CATCH – available with the tracking pricing only – which is the simultaneous licensing of $300 per user under 100 users.
AL pricing for campus-wide – custom w/Assist Tech $29,000 –
which includes LDAP-1 yr. However, multi-yr. can save big
dollars~ they will look to go multi-yr. when they renew in 2011~ / lynda’s pricing: $36,000 campus-wide for tech skills on demand – not available for distance students– no tracking – no assessments-no custom
no assistive tech
Atomic Learning does have the education market in mind. We do
not gouge the client for their needs. / If client wants an individual name and tracking – lynda offers that at an additional $300 per user. lynda does offer discounting with this simultaneous licensing – for 100 licenses it is $225 and so on. However, again no tracking – no assessments. *(North Dakota – for 20-30 individual multi-user licensing was quoted $300 each with a username of und1 – pretty basic)If they wanted this for 14,500 students they were quoted $100 for each license in addition to the $36,000. lynda did say they would cut them a deal – $100,000 on top of the $36,000 for unique log-ins.
On-site stand-up training – free, plus webinars each
semester and as often as they wish
AL went on campus for two days at UND to host faculty and
admin. training. We also hosted a technology fair and had a great
turnout of faculty, staff and students / From what I understand – lynda sells by phone. It was my understanding they do not go on campus for any training-
