Accountabilities:

The Operator B is responsible for daily operations of the power plant through facility rounds, by ensuring the plant is operating efficiently, reliably, and safely within environmental compliance requirements. This person must effectively communicate information to the Shift Lead and the Operator A, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Locally operate equipment and monitor performance through facility rounds.

•Meet dispatch obligations, while working safely and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements through visual inspection.

•Report abnormal or emergency plant conditions to Operator A as soon as possible following the appropriate corrective action taken in accordance with established procedures or at the direction of the Shift Lead.

•Monitor condition of the plant through use of trends.

•Perform Chemistry on plant equipment.

•Refer personal Human Resource and Collective Bargaining Agreement issues to the Production Manager as soon as possible.

•Operate and comply with the facility with use of approved Policies and Procedures.

•Enter work requests in the CMMS.

•Complete operator training and assist in the training of new operators, as required.

•Enter events in the plant logs and ensure records are accurate.

•Complete other tasks as requested by the Shift Lead or Production Manager.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field desirable. Candidate must be capable of completing the qualification program. One to three years’ industrial experience is desired.

Position requires extended working hours and periodically works additional shifts, weekends, or holidays, as. The Operator B position will occasionally be required to be “on call” as assigned by the Production Manager.

This position will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, and includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening.

Physical requirements include: working on feet for 12 hour periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; routinely lifting 50 pounds; and heavy cleanup work of an industrial site utilizing shovels and brooms. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.

Must be a U.S Citizen and/or legally entitled to work in the United States.

Wage: As per collective agreement.
