A Gathering of Friends and Family the Filipino Way

It was an evening of songs and dances, from the youngest to the not so young. From different nationality, they all know how to party. The food was overflowing and some of us just think will it ever stop? The night was filled with laughter and the feeling of belonging to one family. Some came early and some came in late. But they all came in unity that it’s high time that we all get together and be heard and be seen.

The June 17 gathering at the Victoria Park Hotel is just the beginning of something good and big for the Filipinos in Cumbria. It opened lots of avenues to network with different institution from the private to the local government entities. We thank all our friends for having shared the evening with us. We thank Mr. William Jenks for blessing the affair with his prayers. We thank Arvie Macalinao our friend all the way from Morecambe for gracing the night with her lovely singing voice. We thank Irene for making it all happen. But most of all we thank you for taking part and hope that we keep the spirit of unity for years to come. Mabuhay!

Ipagdasal Natin

The Beauty of Barrow in Furness.

How many among you have visited the serenity and historic Furness Abbey? How many of you have seen the Exhibit at the DockMuseum? Have you seen the FurnessPark lately? A lot of us always set our eyes to the far and hard to reach places. Typical of us isn’t it? We always set our eyes to Manchester, London, Birmingham or New Castle and yet we have not discovered the beauty that is right under our noses. People are warmer and pleasant to talk to. Air is fresher and sights are greener. What more do you want when one can always visit the city anytime. There is a lot of fascinating thing to do in Barrow if one will just open their eyes. Have you seen the Banger racing? Awesome I tell you! Were you at the Carnival two weeks ago? Are you going to the Air show on the 16thof July? You bet you buster! You have been missing a lot haven’t you? Get yourself up and see the beauty of Barrow in Furness now. Be there or be square…

Joke Time
