*Each Photojournal assignment must be in your Photojournal (binder) and will be checked in class for 100 points each. Please follow directions and do your best!

Assignment 1. Find the oldest photograph in your family photo albums. In your journal describe how the people are dressed and how they look. Are they working or are the posed for the photograph? What does the photograph say about their lives? Is it easy to tell how old the photograph is? Write about your connection to this image

Assignment 2. Choose 3 of your favorite photographs from any time period and from any medium. Explain why they are your favorite and why you are attracted to them.

Assignment 3. Take a black and white photograph and a color photograph of the same subject matter. Write about the differences and the similarities of both photographs. Clarify which one you like the most and why?

Assignment 4. Bring a picture of your pets or your friends pets (if you do not have one) in their setting. Use a creative background! Dress the pet up (please do not harm them), you can make it as humorous or as sweet as you want. Write why you chose the background and how you created your photo-shoot.

Assignment 6. Look through magazines for examples of the different types of portraits that and you can cut out and glue in your photojournal. Label each photograph with the appropriate portrait title. Make notes on what you like and why…

Assignment 7. Take a photograph of you with your friends/family. Take a series of photographs exemplifying these emotions: Funny, Sad, Anxious, Mad, Serious, Happy.

Assignment 8. Weekend Assignment: Take a picture of yourself throughout the day. Every hour on the hour, snap a photo of you and your surroundings. Capture your surroundings as well as yourself. Make these as creative as possible! Create a story to go along with your photographs (at least 7). Print them out and place them in your photojournal. Write the story in your photojournal.

Assignment 9. Document your family at dinner time or during some part of the day. Take a series of 4 pictures. Explain each photograph by writing what is going on and even embellish your story (make up something that seems more interesting than cooking dinner).

Assignment 10. Take 5 photojournal essay photographs. Print them out and add captions for them. Answer as many of these basic journalism questions as you can:

Who? What? Where? When? Why? This should resemble newspaper or magazine photographs.
