Senior Satellite Technician

Providing training and on-site technical support to the Marines, on the AN/USC-65 Lightweight Multi-band Satellite terminal (LMST).

  • Dispatched to Australia to troubleshoot a terminal that had been down for over a week, isolated and corrected the problem in less than five minutes.

Senior Satellite Technician

Provided training and on-site technical support to the Marines in Iraq on the AN/USC-65 Lightweight Multi-band Satellite terminal (LMST).

  • Isolated and corrected, in less than four days, an intermittent fault that had been plaguing the Marines for over three months.
  • Discovered and corrected the cause of a severe ground fault problem with over 6 amps on the ground wire that had existed for over 6 months.

Associate Hardware Engineer

Responsible for providing hardware and software technical support for the Biometrics Automated Toolset (BAT) . Installed, configured, maintained, and synchronized BAT servers and clients throughout Afghanistan. Prepared and presented training on the operation of BAT hardware and software.

  • Assembled, loaded, and configured the Kandahar BAT server in less than one day. The rack-mounted server consists of, dual redundant Dell 2650s running Windows 2000 Server and SQL Server 2000, a 1.3 Terabyte RAID array, and a USPI 1000VA UPS.

Hired as a subject matter expert on Internet protocols and services to help with the testing of the Navy and Marine Corp Intranet / Core Network Services.

  • Wrote the Core Network Services test plan and helped develop the test procedures used at the Navy Center for Tactical Systems Interoperability in San Diego and The United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command Fort Huachuca.
  • Created a MS Access application used for the evaluation testing of the Global Command and Control System. This application allowed the assimilation and analysis of data from several hundred geographically separated sources.

Installed and repaired broadband, point-to-point, wireless Internet equipment on rooftops and towers.

  • Installed three repeaters, erected a 40-foot tower, installed antennas on a 100 ft tower, repointed and/or moved 120 client antennas, in Casa Grande in less than two weeks.
  • Disassembled a repeater, reconfigured two repeaters, installed two T-1s, and repointed/moved 60 client antennas, in Sierra Vista, in less than one week.

US Air Force, Joint Interoperability Test Center, Ft. Huachuca6/1999 – 5/2003

NCOIC, Distributed Network Control Center (DNCC)

Managed a mixed service, seven-man shop composed of Army, Air Force, Marines, and contractors. Provide local Red/Black connectivity using two Telenex matrix switches, and long haul connectivity using a combination of Link/2+, AT&T 740/745s, DISN LES (Fore ATM switches), and KIV-7/KG-84/91/75 cryptos.

  • Designed and installed the Promina multiplexer upgrade for the JITC T-1 network, replaced the no longer supported AT&T 740/745s. Resulted in improved reliability and performance, as well as allowing for the new 256K Sensor Simulation circuits.
  • Designed a Redcom replacement/upgrade for DNCC’s failing prototype Red Switch. This resulted in improved reliability and expanded capabilities.
  • Developed a compact, deployable, test connectivity suite consisting of a micro-Link, Promina 100, KIV-7 and an Adtran ISDN ISU.

Information Assurance NCO, HQ AFMC Network Operations and Security Center

Operated the Automated Security Incident Measurement system and monitored the progress of the Barrier Reef Information Protection Process at all of the AFMC bases.

  • Stood up the HQ AFMC Network Operations and Security Center installed and configured all of the computers as well as the ASIMs.
  • Researched, designed, and installed the AFMC command wide configuration management and software distribution servers.

NCOIC, Base Network Operations Center

Managed an eight-man shop that controlled the Lajes Field Metropolitan Area Network, a combination of FDDI, 10base5, 10base2 and 10baseT Ethernet and high-speed serial links.

  • Designed the Lajes Field ATM backbone and centralized server farm. The server farm replaced twenty-seven individually managed Novell servers with five Microsoft NT servers. This resulted in a standardized configuration, improved customer service, and reduced workload.
