Welcome/Introductions:Amber Maslovsky at Southern Illinois Healthcare welcomed everyone at the meeting and introductions were given to all in attendance.

Approval of Agenda: Agenda stands approved.

Approval of PCHCC Minutes 5/10/13: Minutes stand approved.

Bike Racks in the Community:

  • Is there a grant for Bike Ranks in the Community? IDOT has safe travel grants around the month of February. Will research other ways for funding towards bike racks.

Smoke-Free Poster Contest:

  • There were 52 submissions K-8 from 4 Pinckneyville Schools that participated in the smoke-free poster contest. Of those 54, the PCHCC members selected 3 winners at each school and 3 winners for the Pinckneyville Park (15 winners total).
  • The posters will be displayed that the Family Fun Night in Pinckneyville on July 26th.
  • On Monday, June 3, 2013, WSIL came to the Pinckneyville Schools and interviewed the students and Nicole Marlow, PCHD, about the poster contest. Here is the link:

We Choose Health Update:

Smoke-Free Public Places –

  • See Smoke-Free Poster Contest

Worksite Wellness –

  • Perry County Health Department is working on enhancing their wellness initiatives. They have formed a wellness committee. They are drafting a pot luck policy. PCHD also orders out food and will be drafting a nutritional information sheet of the places they frequently order from. And they are looking at creating a Start Walking Path.

Coordinated School Health –

  • Perry County Health Department will be receiving the Enhanced Funding for CSH. PCHD will be using that funding to help bring CATCH to School District 204.

Smoke-Free Multi-Unit Housing –

  • PCHD meeting has been postponed with Perry County Housing Authority.

Announcements/Agency Information Sharing/Handouts:

  • Southern Illinois Healthcare handed out the newest Second Act Newsletter.
  • Healthy Southern Illinois Delta Network committee approved to have a website. That website will link all of the coalition information for the lower 16 counties. More information to follow.
  • Southern Illinois HIV Care Connect links people with services such as transportation, medications, housing, etc. For more information contact 877-745-1424 or
  • Lab Clinic at Perry County Health Department to offer cholesterol, full lipid panels, and hemoglobin A1C every Friday 7:30am – 10:00am open to anyone by appointment or walk-in. Cholesterol and Lipid Panel testing is $35. Hemoglobin A1C is $32. For more information contact 618-357-5371.
  • Perry County Counseling Centerprovided an update ontheir walk-in appointments. It has been very successful. It is Thursdays from 10-noon and 1p-4p. Walk-in appointments are automatically provided an assessment and into therapy if available.
