Installing on Pediatrics Windows-based Computers

If you wish to have the PEDSVPN (AnyConnect) software installed on a Pediatrics-owned computer, please contact PedsIT for assistance with the automated install.

Installing from the PEDSVPN/AnyConnect Server

Enter your Pedom Account name and password at the SSL VPN Login Screen:

If this is the first time you’ve connected to the PEDSVPN server, it will attempt to automatically install the AnyConnect VPN software client.

If the automated install does not succeed, you can download the AnyConnect VPN software and install manually. Install using the link provided (see screenshot below).

When prompted, select RUN to launch the install. If you are not an administrator on your computer, you may need to save the file, then Right-Click on the downloaded file (in your downloads folder) and select “Run As Administrator”.

If the download file does not have a “.exe” extension, you will have to Save the file, then rename to “.exe”. (Double click the setup/Install program you just downloadedand “Run As Administrator” if necessary).

Click NEXT to begin the AnyConnect Setup Wizard, then click to accept the license agreement.

Then click to INSTALL.

Click FINISH after the install completes.

Establishing a Secure Connection to the PEDSVPN Server

If the AnyConnect Client window below does not launch automatically after the install, you can manually launch the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client from the START | All Programs | Cisco menu.

In the connection box, make sure the address is:

pedsvpn.pedom.peds.washington.edu/webvpn

Then press the Connect button.

Enter yourPedom Username and Password to establish the VPN tunnel.

Once the VPN tunnel is connected, a web-based utility will launch requesting your Pedom Username and Password once again. This utility will attempt to Map your S: and U: drives to the Pedshare and User/Home folders, respectively. (If you have persistently mapped S: and U: drives, simply click the Cancel button at this screen).

When the PedShare Drive Map utility completes, it will automatically close. You should have both S: and U: drives mapped. You should now have access to your typical files/folders.

To end your SSL VPN session, bring up the Cisco AnyConnect client window (from taskbar) and simply click the Disconnect button. Remember to close all files and folders you have open on the Pediatrics servers first. You may want to disconnect the mapped drives as well.

Setting AnyConnect Preferences

You may want to customize/configure your AnyConnect Software. If you do not wish to run the PedShare Drive Map script each time you establish a VPN connection, click on the AnyConnect icon on your taskbar to bring up the AnyConnect login window.

Click on the Settings icon in the lower-left corner of the AnyConnect window and select the Preferences tab. If you do not need to run the script to Map the Pedshare and User drives, uncheck the box.

You can close the AnyConnect Settings window by clicking on the AnyConnect globe icon in the upper left-hand corner of the window and select Close.

Once the AnyConnect client is installed, you can simply launch it from the Start Menu. No need to browse to the site.
