Who we are looking for

We are looking for a skilled, experienced person who is excited about making a difference to the lives of young people with problematic substance use and their families. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver the program Linking Youth and Families Together (LYFT) in the West Melbourne catchment. Delivered in partnership with Anglicare Victoria (lead) and Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS), LYFT is an innovative program providing family-focused interventions for young people with alcohol and other drug problems.

The position

The position is based in Melton and is offered as a fixed term contract to 30 June 2018, with possibility of extension if funding allows.

The key purpose of the position is toreduce problematic alcohol use and associated harms amongst young people, using family focused therapeutic interventions with a particular focuson the African and Pasifika communities. The position is based at Melton Youth Services, and includes a significant outreach component.

A day in the life of this position may includeengaging young people and families through outreach and centred-based work; providing assessments, development treatment plans and delivering therapeutic interventions; meeting with CALD community elders; liaising and in-reach to schools, referring to and working with other services; completing case notes and other client documentation; participating in peer supervision with your YSAS and Anglicare LYFT colleagues, and getting involved in community activities.
