Introduction

Webelos Camporall is an event intended to introduce Webelos Scouts and their parents to some of the exciting adventures of Boy Scouting. The weekend will be filled with fun activities: Saturday morning competitive events, then plenty of outdoor excitement in the afternoon, including games, sports, shooting ranges, push carts, camp cooking, and an interactive evening campfire.

Webelos Scouts and their parents are invited to participate as individuals or with their Dens. All Scouts will be organized into Survival Teams for the competitive events and may or may not be participating with members from their "natural" Dens. Sorry, siblings are not invited to this event.

An Introduction to Webelos Outdoor Leader Skills (IWOLS) trained adultsare not required for this event. Members of the Modoc Chapter of the Order of the Arrow (BSA's National Honor Society) will be hosting the weekend and running the events.

All registration must be done online through the Camp Master Website (xxxxx) at least one (1) week in advance of the event. A parent or guardian must accompany Scouts who register individually.

Each unit or individual should have in possession a signed medical release form for everyattendee, including adults. (need link or form) In addition, all youth members who intend to use the shooting ranges must complete, and have in possession, an Oso Lake Activity Release form signed by a parent or guardian, even if that parent or guardian is in camp. (need link or form)

Arrival and Set-Up

Campsites will be assigned based on the number of people who register. Campsites hold up to 50 people so you will be sharing a site; please respect other campers' space.

Plan to arrive between 5pm and 9:00pm on Friday. Drivers will be instructed where to unload near their assigned campsite, and then directed to the parking area. Please move all vehicles as soon as they are unloaded.

Each unit should send one adult to check in after they move their vehicle. Go to the program headquarters and provide a complete roster of all youth and adults that are attending. A packet will be provided for each registered Unit or individual, which includes: event wristbands, camp map, daily schedule, and other information. Please help us by doing this as soon as possible.

Anyone arriving on Saturday should be in camp by 8amand check in at the program headquarters. Drivers will be instructed where to unload after they check in.

Recreational Vehicles (RVs) and Trailers

RVs, campers, and camp trailers are NOT permitted except for medical reasons and will be parked in a designated area. There is a 24 ft length limit for these vehicles.

Persons who require these vehicles must advise the committee prior to arrival to receive a special parking permit because the space is extremely limited. There are no RV dumps or electrical hook-ups. Generators can only be run during day light hours.

General Competition Guidelines

Scouts may NOT have their handbooks or any other reference materials during events.

Scouts should compete in Activity Uniforms (Class B).

All Scouts are to conduct themselves in a sportsman like manner.

Survival Teams should compete in as many events as possible. Participation points will be given for each event completed, increasing the Team's score.

A special recognition device will be presented to every Scout who participates in every event.

Adults should accompany their Scouts to the morning competitive events, but may not, in any way, coach or assist the Scouts during the competition. Any interference or intervention by an adult will result in that Survival losing points for that event.

If there is a problem with a score, the youth leader or a parent should discuss and attempt to resolve the situation with the event coordinator after the event is completed, and before leaving that event. If a resolution is not possible, the situation should be brought to the attention of the Camporall Chair, who will be the final arbiter of scores.

Optional Event - Golden Spoon Competition(? - Still under consideration)

Teams or individuals may compete in a Golden Spoon competition for the best Dutch oven dessert prepared Saturday night.

Participants should supply their own ingredients to prepare their entry. Webelos will be on their honor to prepare their dessert on their own, and then take a sample to the judges at the headquarters area. No adult participation is permitted, other than for safety supervision. The winners of this competition will receive a special award at the campfire.

There are a limited number of Dutch ovens available for this event. Participants should plan to use their own Dutch oven if possible.
