2012 Game Day Internship Program

Northwest Arkansas Naturals Baseball

Who We Are

Northwest Arkansas is home to the Naturals, the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. Located in Springdale, Arkansas, Arvest Ballpark is a state-of-the-art ballpark which was awarded the “Ballpark of the Year” title in 2008. In addition to baseball, Arvest Ballpark hosts many concerts, charity events, and gatherings throughout the year. The Naturals will begin their fifth season in Northwest Arkansas on April 12, 2012, marking another year of fun, family entertainment in Northwest Arkansas.

What to Expect

These unpaid positions will begin Thursday, April 12, 2012 and extend throughout the entire 2012 season (plus playoffs if applicable). The internship program provides students with hands-on experience in game-day and front office operations of a professional baseball organization. Interns will be expected to work approximately 5-6 hours during Naturals home games and possibly during other events at Arvest Ballpark as well. The work schedule consists predominantly of evening hours, as well as weekends. We are flexible with your schedule, so you can hold a day job or be a student and still participate. Interns will be expected to operate in a professional manner, abiding by our game-day dress code, which consists of khaki pants or shorts of appropriate length and a provided polo shirt. There are special exceptions to the dress code for select Theme Nights, in which the entire staff is encouraged to dress up in appropriate theme attire. All home weekends are required, with only special exceptions granted, with at least two weeks notice. You are required to be at the ballpark 2 hours prior to gametime.

Interns will also receive top of the line sales training provided by the Naturals. The goal of the sales training is to prepare every intern to become a full-time executive in the professional sports industry. After completing the sales training, interns will be expected to arrive early at least once a week to make sales calls to single game buyers and businesses in an effort to further their experience in this realm.
