NIH eRA Alert: Issues That May Affect Your June 5 Submission
If you are working on your submission for the June 5 R01 deadline, please note that Grants.gov is currently experiencing issues with some of the submissions. The below table provides a list of those issues we’ve been made aware of as well as suggested actions for you to take. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact your Contracts and Grants Officer.

Suggested Action to Take
Incorrect Page Access Message
  • Some applicants have reported receiving the following message upon submitting their Adobe forms-based application toGrants.gov:
INCORRECT PAGE ACCESS
You have accessed this page in an incorrect fashion. If you are attempting to submit a grant application, please re-open your package in Internet Explorer and try again. Please avoid using your browser's "Back" or "Refresh" buttons. If you have any questions please contact theGrants.govHelp Desk.
  • Although users report not getting a confirmation screen, applications appear to be processing throughGrants.govto NIH eRA Commons anyway.Grants.govis investigating and hopefully will be able to provide guidance soon.
/ Check status in Commons BEFORE submitting again.
  • If you receive the Incorrect Page Access message, don’t panic. Simply check eRA Commons to see if your application was actually processed.
  • Be patient - it can take 2-4 hours to process an application during major submission deadlines. If your application is not processed through to Commons, follow the System Issue procedure below.
  • Since these applications are actually processed, submitting your initial Application (SF424 RR box 4) again will result in a duplicate submission error unless you change your application to be Changed/Corrected (SF424 RR box 4).

Intermittent ‘Stuck’ System-to-System Submission
  • Some S2S submissions are getting stuck with error "Exception caught during S2SReceiving process:null.”
/ Follow the Guidelines for Applicants Experiencing System Issues
  • Please be assured that Grants.gov staff are manually processing any stuck submissions and that applications requiring manual intervention for processing will retain their initial timestamps.
  • If you experience a delay in receiving your submission status from Grants.gov, see the May 25th posting on Grants.gov’s Blog for additional information and follow the System Issue procedure here:
