BOOKING FOR AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

If you want your child/ren to attend our After School Club, it is essential that you book them into the specific sessions that you would like them to attend. Only children whose parents have made bookings will be collected by staff and taken to After School Club at the end of day.

SATS

The end of Key Stage 2 SATS week will be week beginning Monday 8th May 2017. It is essential that all year 6 pupils attend school during this week to take these important tests. If your child is unwell arrangements can be made for them to take the test then to be taken home directly afterwards. Please contact the school office staff as early as possible if this is the case. The year 6 pupils have been working really hard, in preparation for these assessments and they deserve to do well. We wish them all the best.

KS1 CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS

I should like to congratulate all of the children who represented our school so well in the KS1 Cross Country. Out of all the schools across Thurrock who participated, Deneholm finished 3rd overall. This is a fantastic achievement and a huge ‘Well done’ goes to every child who took part, as all of their results combined to give the final overall result.

For the medal table the top 3 overall schools are as follows:

1st Belmont Castle 162

2nd Deneholm 381

3rd Giffards 386

GENERAL ELECTION

School will be closed for staff training on Thursday 8th June 2017, as the school will be used as a polling station for the general election. Children will return to school, as normal on Friday 9th June.

PTA CAKE SALE FRIDAY 5TH MAY

The PTA will be holding a cake sale after school on Friday 5th May. All proceeds from this sale will go towardsthe new outside play area.It would really be appreciated f you could donate any cakes or support the event by buying some! Donations of cakes would be gratefully received anytime from Thursday afternoon.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

The photographer will be in school to take school class photographs on Wednesday 17th May. Please ensure that your child is wearing full school uniform on this day.

SUMMER FETE

We will be holding our summer fete on Saturday 24th June. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to have a board advertising it. We are currently making preparations for this event and are putting together a timetable for the arena. If you know of a dance / exercise troop that would be interested in performing on the day, please could you let PTA member Claire Cornelius know asap either by text: 07793 159547 or by leaving your name and address at reception marked for Claire's attention. THURROCK CHILDREN’S CHOIR

Thurrock Music Services are launching a Thurrock Children’s Choir. If your child enjoys singing and is aged between 8 and 12, they may be interested in this new initiative.

“Calling All Aspiring Young Singers in Thurrock aged 8 – 12 Years”

SPORTING NEWS

I should like to congratulate all of the children who represented our school so well at the Thurrock Schools Netball Rally and thank Mr Perry and the parents who helped at this event.

OUT OF SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations to Toula Stavri of class 14 who took part in a Pentathlon Athletics Competition on Monday 1st May, representing the Thurrock Harriers and achieving a personal best in all 5 events, Long Jump, 70 Metre Hurdles, shot Putt, high Jump and 800 metres. Well done Toula.

The best class for attendance, week ending 28th April 2017 was Class 11 with 100% attendance. Well done to them!

Overall attendance was 96.8% which is just above our 96.5%+ target.
