Between the Lines... Woven Notes and Memorabilia. Using old handwritten documents, CVPA Fibers Professor Marjorie Durko Puryear creates narrative wall works, using digital design and electronic jacquard weaving techniques.

The Society of Arts and Crafts Artist Awards: 1994-2006. Each year, The Society of Arts and Crafts (SAC) Boston presents awards to four outstanding emerging artists. Curated by SAC Executive Director Beth Ann Gerstein, this exciting mixed-media exhibition will present new works by selected past award winners, including CVPA Ceramics Professor Rebecca Hutchinson.

Abstracted Landscapes. The landscape has been a steady source of inspiration for artists. In this exhibition the landscape surfaces as each artist explores their narrative, material, and/or conceptual issues. Exhibition features the work of CVPA alumna Corrie Silvia.

Mechanical Confections. Gina Kamentsky, sculptor, animator, designer and teacher, has spent most of her life creating objects and media for the amusement of children and adults. In this exhibition, Kamentsky combines fantasy and reality in one of a kind mechanical toys and kinetic sculptures.

New Works Exhibition. Gallery X in Downtown New Bedford seeks submissions for an exhibition of new works, juried by CVPA Dean Adrian Tió. Work in all media accepted, and all pieces must be delivered in ready-to-hang/display condition. Submission fee is $35 for the first three pieces; $10 for any additional pieces. A New Perspective on Politics. ArtWorks! in Downtown New Bedford seeks submissions for a juried exhibition featuring artist representations of political figures. Work in all media accepted, with a size restriction of 60"x60"x60" and 75 lbs. Each artist may submit one piece, and all submissions must include an application form, current resume, non-refundable $25 fee, and digital images of work for consideration. The show will be on view June 7-July 19, 2008.

Out of the Blue. Attleboro Arts Museum seeks submissions for a national juried exhibition which challenges artists in all mediums and concepts to create works that incorporate the color blue. Work in all media accepted, with a weight restriction of 125 lbs. Each artist may submit up to two pieces, and all submissions must include an artist statement, non-refundable $25 fee ($18 for members), and digital images of work for consideration. The show will be on view July 2-25, 2008.

Moby Dick Rehearsed. Those who enjoy intriguing twists will find much in this hybrid of Herman Melville's story adapted to draw a parallel between King Lear and Captain Ahab. Here, a troupe of actors abandon their rehearsal of a play about one unforgiving, vengeance obsessed man, Lear, to recreate another of the same emotional stripe, Captain Ahab.
