Criteria of the National Arts Education Award

Four areas of the Award criteria:

  • School Organisation and Arts Culture

Examines how the school creates and supports a culture and an environment that promotes the learning and enjoyment of the arts.

  • Curriculum

Examines the school’s provision of a holistic arts experience to students through the teaching and learning processes in both curricular and co-curricular programmes.

  • Resource Management

Examines how the school provides opportunities to maximise the use of resources as well as to nurture and utilise the potential of its staff to attain excellence in the arts.

  • Partnerships and Community Links

Examines how the school works with arts organisations, community agencies and other schools to enhance the quality of its arts programme.

In addition, the winning schools were judged on whether they have a coherent and integrated approach in achieving the goals of its arts programmes, and its commitment to the processes to sustain the results. The Arts Education Evaluation Framework, which was developed by the Curriculum Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Education, was used.
