Player Assessment Registration FAQ & Form

WHO: 16 Under 10thto 11th Grade non-profitAAU Napa Valley Basketball Alliance (NVBA)Teams are being formed by local successful AAU Coaches in Napa for a Spring 12 week session of 24 practice dates. NVBA Team formation is based on skills balanced, age matched players and categorized by age groups based on AAU’s DOB rules:AAU age/grade elgibility: 10th Grade Division = An athlete must be in the 10th grade as of October 1, 2013 and can be no older than 17 on August 31, 2014. An athlete that is in the 11th grade as of October 1st, 2013 wanting to play down in the 10th grade division, can be no older than 16 on August 31, 2014.Younger players wanting to play up will be allowed if highly skilled. Older players not meeting these AAU age requirements that are interested in only training & skill development, will be accepted on an individual basis and not in conflict with the Team skills mix or Team size.Details on the 2013 NVBA AAU Spring 15U Team: NVBATeam focus is on player development, fundamentals, physical training, teamwork and competition in the Bay Area’sPremier AAU Tournaments to further develop skills, character and sportsmanship.NVBA Teams are open to all boys within the Napa Valley County, including American Canyon and players from the outside areas require a referral.

WHEN:Player Assessment dates for Spring are March 1 at 1-3pm at Grace Church‘s new gym (back of parking lot) at3765 Solano Ave, Napa, CA 94558, (a second Try Out location and time will be announced via email). Players must provide below completed NVBA Player Registration Form singed by adult parent or legal guardian, in advance via email or prior to start of Try Outs to be allowed to participate and have current youth athlete AB type AAU Membership #.Team practices will be at least 2 x a week and 2 hours long. AAU Tournaments are typically Saturdaysonly, dates & locations to be contested by the team will be determined in advance by player availability during Parent Meeting and via email confirmation.

WHERE: All Team practices will occur in Napa gyms (TBA).Travel Tournaments will occur in nearby cities (Sacramento, SF, Oakland). Attendance at AAU Tournaments is required for all age allowed Team players and their parents are responsible for transportation, so carpooling is recommended-Coaches will assist as needed.

PLAYERS:All selected Team players will be provided team play time as earned are expected to attend all practices. Advance notification to the team Head Coach of any practice or game attendance conflict is required. Good sportsmanship is expected as a condition of team participation. An AAU Youth Athlete Membership Extended Coverage-AB ($16 per year) is required for all registering players for insurance coverage prior to attendance to the Try Outs, available on-line only (our AAU Club Code is WW35BF):

TEAMS:All teams will have a Head, Asst. Coach & Team Manager,and parent volunteer positions to coordinate the end of season party, carpooling coordinator, Team Photos & Team stats/ scoring, filming. Coaches are selected based on instructional skill, positive attitude, leadership abilities,Coaching experience, skill training experience & Team success. Players will be teamed with players from their HS.

COST:Basic Team player fee will be determined on Team size of 10-12 players maximum and is estimated at $450. A minimum of3AAUSF Bay Area Tournaments are planned for eachSpring, (each Tournament = 3 games). Optional 4 day AAU Tournaments (Reno, Tahoe, etc.) will be determined by a Team vote and may require additional fees or Fundraising.Quality Team uniforms are provided by NVBA and required to be returned in good condition at end of season.

TRY OUTs: Determine player skill level to aid Coaches in player position assignment & team skill balancing. All Registered Player’s Parent/Legal Guardian will be notified by the Team’s Coach or Manager of player selection results within the 1st week after the last Try Out if not earlier. Questions? Parent/Legal Guardian signature is required as permission to allow your child to participate in basketball team assessment, practice and games, including being photographed for purposes of promotion and media, accepting that there are inherent dangers, risks and possible injury ordeath can occur and agree to release liability from the Coaches, Team Manager and volunteers, all supporting organizations, sponsors and hired or affiliated referees, facilities personnel, photographers and gym providers. For players selected to play on the Team, parentsignature signifies parent and or legal guardian commitment to pay Player Team Fee (TBD by number of players on team) upon acceptance of Team assignment, with a $40 Tournament Fee per player when due by NVBA for additional Tournaments or Tournaments requiring overnight stay, support good sportsmanship at all team events and commitment to bringing player to Team events (practice, games, clinics) on time and ready to participate or notify Head Coach in advance of absence. Uniforms not returned will require a $55 per player penalty and or may require a deposit in advance and are property of NVBA.
