My PCRFAQ for Grant Seekers

My PCR (MyPCR.org) is an ongoing initiative designed to raise awareness among people living with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), caregivers, advocates and physicians of the importance of regular, standardized CML diagnostics and monitoring. The campaign is directed and carried out in partnership with CML patient organizations in the regions of Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Asia.

In 2016, My PCR is offering two different types of on-going grant opportunities that will be open from March 5th, 2016 to December 31, 2016. Below is a list of commonly asked questions about the grants andthe grant application process:

1)What type of grants are available to partners in 2016?

  • The following grants are available to partners until the end of December2016:
  • Hematology Society Grants: These grants (10 available in total) are intended for partners that are interested in hosting a PCR related booth at a local hematology society conference in their home country. The grant is intended to cover expenses related to the booth and conference attendance, as well as the printing of PCR materials. Partners who are legally registered with a bank account for their organization may receive up to US$2000 and non-registered groups may receive up to US$500.
  • PCR Awareness and Education Grants: These grants (15 available in total) are intended to help fund local PCR awareness and education events for CML patients and caregivers. The event must target CML patient education given by a physician to an audience of CML patients and caregivers. Partners who are legally registered with a bank account for their organization may receive up to US$1000 and non-registered groups may receive up to US$500.

2)How do partners apply for these grants?

  • Partners may apply by filling out the Grant Proposal Form which may be downloaded at mypcr.org.
  • Forms will only be considered if they are 100% complete and should be emailed directly to your local representative at The Max Foundation or may be emailed .
  • Please note that the review time for grants is 2 weeks and processing time for accepted grants may take up to 4 weeks. Hematology Society Conferencesand Awareness and Education Events should therefore take place more than 6 weeks after the date the grant form was submitted.

What are the grant criteria?

  • All grant seeking organizations must be a partner of My PCR. If you are interested in becoming a partner, please send an email to for more information or contact your local representative at The Max Foundation.
  • Patient organizations applying for monetary grants over US$500 must be registered in their home country and legally able to receive funds internationally.
  • Nonregistered patient organizations may apply for a grant, however, the amount of the grant will be capped at US$500.
  • All grant recipients will be required to sign an MOU, which will be provided through the campaign headquarters upon approval of the grant proposal.
  • Organizations seeking to print PCR materials should submit a printing quote with the budget to illustrate the anticipated cost of printing materials in their country
  • Hematology Society Grant Specific Criteria:
  • Competitive grant proposals will include a detailed attached budget that clearly outlines the expenses associated with the hematology society booth.
  • Grants for conferences that take place less than 6 weeks from the date of grant submission may not be funded due to time constraints depending on the complexity of the grant request.
  • *Note that recognition of campaign sponsors in the materials at the booth is required, and will be provided by My PCR headquarters.
  • PCR Awareness and Education Grants:
  • All partners of My PCR are highly encourage to apply for this grant.
  • Competitive grant proposals will include a detailed attached budget that clearly outlines expenses related to the event.
  • The event proposal should clearly describe the CML/PCR specific educational component of the event and how physicians will participate as well as provide an estimation of how many people will attend.
