IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR

Vice President of Financeof American Baptist Homes of the Midwest

GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall administration and quality of service

provision at Murrow Indian Children’s Home. Shall abide by current

policies and budget guidelines as approved by the Board of Directors.

SPECIFIC DUTIES ADMINISTRATIVE

  1. Responsible to approve all admissions of new children to Murrow Indian Children’s Home. May consult with other staff in order to determine appropriatenessof placement or availability of necessary accommodations.
  1. Responsible to maintain a strong referral network between Murrow Indian Children’s Home and possible referral sources such as tribal programs, CRCS workers, and county child welfare workers.
  1. Responsible for maintaining records, submitting reports of accounts receivable and expenses incurred, approve invoices for payment by central office and transmit all monies to central office. These duties may be assigned to administrative support staff with final approval and supervision provided by Administrator.
  1. Responsible to develop staffing patterns in consultation with American Baptist Homes of the Midwest. Will advertise, seek out, interview, hire and determine salary consistent with these patterns.
  1. Responsible to delegate authority to other employees within the organizational structure, including delegating administrative and supervisory duties during Administrator’s absence.
  1. Responsible to mediate wherever possible differences between staff members, children, or community in a positive, caring manner. Seek to resolve differences through compromise as opposed to conflict.
  1. Responsible to develop all possible sources of support available to each child residing at Murrow Indian Children’s Home. Will pursue the possibility of a contract for institutional support through the State of Oklahomaand Native American Tribes in all ways available.
  1. Will participate in conferences, workshops, and training opportunities in order to meet licensure requirements. Shall seek to provide opportunities for in-service training or continuing education for facility staff. Will coordinate with American Baptist Homes of the Midwest office where registration costs and/or per diem is required.
  1. Responsible to be familiar with state and federal regulations as they apply to Murrow Indian Children’s Home. Keep American Baptist Homes of the Midwest and the Board of Trusteesinformed of changes and trends.
  1. When necessary at direction of child’s guardian, provide a system for safe storage and handling of personal funds, including a record of each account.
  1. Responsible to maintain accurate records of days and hours worked by staff at Murrow Indian Children’s Home. Will report hours worked for each pay period to American Baptist Homes of the Midwest. Will receive and appropriately distribute payroll to employees.
  1. Responsible for supervision of development funding which includes but is not limited to the following activities:
  1. Responsible to develop and produce mail-out materials to generate support for Murrow Indian Children’s Home. Will regularly submit reports and updates on children and staff for publications in mail-out materials.
  1. Responsible to oversee “production line” for mail-out fund raising efforts. Including hand-addressing from master lists, stamping, sealing, postage procurement and recruitment of other staff/residents to assist in this effort.
  1. Directs secretary in maintenance of updated supporters/givers lists and maintains lists of prospective new supporters for future mail-outs.
  1. Represents Murrow Home in public speaking presentations to churches, civic groups and other organizations for purposes of fundraising, information, and good public relations.
  1. Seeks out all other opportunities for fundraising including contracts, foundation grants and benefit activities.
  1. Responsible for depositing all funds received by the secretary or securing such funds in a locked office until they are deposited.
  1. Responsible to replyappropriately to letters about sponsorship and donations and all other correspondence about program operation or children.
  1. Responsible to meet and make welcome any visitors on the Murrow grounds such as supporters and Church groups.
  1. Responsible to hold regularly scheduled staff meetings with employees of Murrow Indian Children’s Home. In particular, to hold staffings on each child in order to better coordinate services and provide higher quality care.
  1. Responsible to maintain documentation in children’s charts that meet state standards and that ensure a high quality care.
  1. Maintain pleasant working conditions for facility employees and living conditions for residents. Compassionate behavior between staff and children toward each other shall be promoted and role modeled by the Administrator. Abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
  1. Responsible to serve in all capacities when key staff must be absent, in particular, to assume social work responsibilities.
  1. Responsible for any other administrative decisions necessary to the operation of Murrow Indian Children’s Home. Will consult with appropriate representative at the American Baptist Homes of the Midwestwhen necessary.
  1. Is on-call 24 hours for emergency situations.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Responsible to supervise and evaluate administrative, clerical staff members, social worker and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in pertinent social service related area with a minimum of five years experience in program service delivery and administration or,
  2. A Master’s Degree in pertinent social service related area with a minimum of threeyears experience in program service delivery and administration or,
  3. A Doctoral Degree in pertinent social service related area with a minimum of two years experience in program service delivery and administration.
  4. Demonstrated successful counseling experience with Indian families and youth.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work well under stress.
  6. Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  7. Valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.
  8. Has personal vehicle for travel purposes.
