Moscow International Symposium on Magnetism

Moscow International Symposium on Magnetism

MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MAGNETISM

MISM-2005

M.V.LomonosovMoscowStateUniversity, Moscow,

June 25 – 30, 2005

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

The conference “Moscow International Symposium on Magnetism” (MISM) was held in MoscowStateUniversity in 2000 and 2002. Last time more than 400 scientists from USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Brazil, Poland, Turkey, Czech, Japan, Korea, Russia and FormerSovietRepublics participated in MISM-2002. Proceedings of MISM-2002 were published in Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, vol.258-259, 2003. Taking into account the success of these meetings and numerous requests of participants the International Advisory Committee decided to organize MISM on regular basis, every three years. The MISM is the largest international conference on magnetism, which takes place in Russia. This time the Organizing Committee decided to focus on the most actual topics of modern magnetism and to strictly limit the total number of participants. Besides of plenary talks of tutorial character and invited talks of leading scientists the only original and top-level contributions will be considered by the Program Committee. The Organizers have very restricted funding and cannot support participants, including the members of International Advisory Committee, plenary and invited speakers but we will try to do our best to arrange useful, pleasant and not expensive stay in Moscow.

MAIN TOPICS

  1. Magnetotransport and spintronics
  2. High frequency properties
  3. Magnetophotonics (linear and nonlinear magnetooptics, magnetophotonic crystals)
  4. Magnetic Semiconductors
  5. Metamaterials
  6. Magnetic nanostructures and Low Dimensional Magnetism
  7. New Magnetic Materials
  8. Physics of magnetic and magnetoreological fluids and composites
  9. Miscellaneous

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME

The official language of MISM is English. It will be used for all printed material and presentations. No translation services will be provided. Sunday, June 25, is the arrival and registration day. The scientific program starts on Monday, June 26, at 10:00. The program ends on Friday, June 30, at 19:00. The detailed program will be placed on the web pages of MISM on May 15, 2005. A conference handbook containing the program and the abstracts of papers will be distributed to all participants at the conference desk. There are plenary lectures (45 min including discussion) starting at 10:00 every morning, followed by three parallel sessions with invited talks (30 min including discussion), invited reports (15 min including discussion), and round tables. All contributed papers will be presented as posters whose are on display from 12:00 to 18:30, with a scheduled session at 17:00 -- 18:30 during which there will no other program in parallel.

Proceedings

The Organizing Committee has the preliminary agreement with Elsevier Publishing Company about publishing the Proceedings of MISM in Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials. In the extreme case the Proceedings of MISM will be published by MoscowStateUniversity and will be mailed to the address on the registration form in October 2005.

Registration

Participants are requested to make registration via web page before March 15, 2005

Submission of manuscript

The maximum length of an invited paper is of 6 pages. The maximum length of a contributed paper is of 3 pages. The manuscript preparing is similar to regular articles in Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials. A detailed version of instructions to authors is published in the first issue of each volume. The corrected manuscript should be sent to before August 5, 2005.
