MEETING HELD ON FRIDAY27th APRIL 2012 AT TENNIS CLUB WPCC CAPE TOWN

Andre welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending.

for reference.

  1. CONFIRMATION OF THE MINUTES OF THE AGM HELD IN KRUGERSDORP ON THE 5TH AUGUST 2011

5. MATTERS ARISING

Matters arising from the minutes:

a)Dates for tournament – up to host Province

b)SAGM should form their own committee

  1. CHAIRMANS REPORT

Andre read his report. Together with the report was an archive list of tournaments held.

Andre congratulated Helen on a job well done with the fixtures.

Matters arising from the report:

a)Tournament levy by host Province must be paid on 4 months or teams should be suspended.

b)At present there is nothing in the Constitution to cover this. Constitution needs to be changed at next AGM.

c)Proposal of a sub-committee to look to put sides together to enter in the World masters.

d)Mike du Plessis suggested we get together with other age-group sport disciplines and create a logo (eg. Blue Crane)

e)Proposal of how to handle the potential loss of the over 60’s/55’s

7. FINANCE

The interim financials, as our year end is only 31May, were circulated before the meeting, thanks to the work done by Jimmy Shankland.

8. ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS

With the exception of Keith Dauncey, the committee remains as is. Dean Gee from Southern Gauteng replaces Keith.

It was noted from the constitution that not more than 2 persons from the same province may facilitate on the committee.

  1. SA MASTERS TOURNAMENT 2013

KZN Inland gave a presentation of their proposal for the 2013 tournament

Tournament to be held 1 – 4th May 2013 in Pietermaritzburg

  1. OVERSEAS PARTICIPATION

Brian advised that there was a Men’s side taking part in the World Masters in August.

12. GENERAL

The need to raise money for SA men’s Team to go to Holland and Japan was discussed.

Jimmy Shankland has money to contributefrom Friends of Hockey trust - awaiting handover.

Issue of “Friends of Hockey” was discussed and explained.

Southern Cape brought up the Pool Structures – the men are not happy in the Pool they have been allocated toin 2012 but would play this year. They have requested to be moved in 2013.

Mike du Plessis asked if the ‘Final Dinner” was a must as this could reduce the tournament levy

considerably. Maybe a form of cocktail party isan option.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 19h15
