METROPOLITAN NETBALL LEAGUE

GUIDELINES FOR SECRETARIES 2018/2019

1. The Metropolitan League will only allow fixtures to be altered in extenuating circumstances. Permission for a change in dates MUST be sought from your Division Representative and an appropriate Results Slip must be sent in by both clubs. Any such request will be considered by the Div Rep and the league secretary but please note postponements for inability to travel, except in adverse weather conditions, no umpire, no team, tours and weddings will not be regarded as extenuating circumstances. Please refer to rules 6 & 7.

2. Refusal to travel to an away fixture IS NOT an extenuating circumstance and Division Representatives will closely monitor this in the coming season.

3. Please ensure all Result Slips are completed in a tidy and readable condition and please remember to write in the date of the match and which club team you are i.e.: A, B, C etc. Please ensure the slips provided are used, no other slip will be accepted by the Divisional Reps and failure to use the appropriate slips WILL result in points being deducted. Slips sent electronically must be in PDF format and only with the agreement of your divisional rep. Please see Rule 13.

Please use the Result Slips provided. Div 1 to submit on A4 only and remaining Divisions to use slips equal to one third of page.

4. Please ensure the Captain(s) of all your team(s) have a copy of the Rules and an adequate supply of Results Slips and impress upon them that the Result Slips should not languish in the netball bag until the following match!!

5. Any change in Club Secretary, or home ground, must be advised to the Chairman, Secretary, Divisional Representative and all clubs in your Division.

6. The Committee suggests that, where possible, clubs arrange a later start to matches during the very cold months (January/February) to avoid cancellations due to icy courts.

7. To help all clubs/teams, please give clear directions to your home ground and precise information regarding parking etc. If parking charges apply please give details. An informative map should be sent when confirming a home fixture.

8. The Metropolitan League is a FRIENDLY LEAGUE and we do hope all clubs will play accordingly. We will not tolerate bad language, verbal abuse of umpires, or physical abuse on or off the netball court.

9. Please note in accordance with EN rules all Players and Umpires must be affiliated to EN prior to the first game of the season. Affiliation to EN is available from 1st August. In the event of a club playing a match when unregistered any points awarded for that match will be deducted together with a penalty point. The points will in those circumstances be awarded to the opposing team.

10.A Player Registration Sheet is provided for Div 1 teams who only need to complete and return it to the Divisional 1 Rep if that team in Div 1 wishes to be able to enter the County League Playoffs at the end of season, which permits only those players who were registered to play and actually played, to take part in the playoff matches.

To be eligible the team will have to be nominated by the league and then invited by the County League to enter the play offs.

The players’ names will also need to be completed on the Div 1 Results slips where appropriate, each week.

11. In accordance with England Netball guidelines unqualified umpires, who may umpire Division 4 and below must be competent and MUST have attended a C award umpiring course, with an approved provider, within the last 2 years. Unqualified umpires can only be used if they are on the pathway to their C award qualification. Registration for umpiring courses can be made through the Surrey County Association website: or emailing SCNA Officiating on
