Mathematics II Credit Recovery

Ms. Al-Husseini Fall 2010

Ms. Al-Husseini has provided students an opportunity to retake Mathematics II in order to earn credit towards graduation. Students will use the online program: Carnegie Learning, in order to complete the credit recovery program. All test must be complete by April 1, 2011; if a student hands in 2 late assignments, he/she will lose the opportunity to regain the lost credit through the Credit Recovery Program.

UNITS TO COMPLETE

Each unit contains a pretest, followed by content to be mastered and then a posttest. All posttests must be completed by April 1, 2011 in order to receive mathematics II credit. There will be no extensions.

Semester 1:

  1. GA M2 U1 : Quadratics
  2. GA M2 U2 : Right Triangles

Semester 2:

  1. GA M2 U3 : Circles and Spheres
  2. GA M2 U2 : Statistics

Please fill out the bottom portion below and return to Ms. Al-Husseini in room 119B by February 14, 2011.

In order to participate in Credit Recovery, you MUST return the bottom portion of this sheet to Ms. Al-Husseini no later than February 14, 2011.

HOW TO ACCESS CARNEGIE LEARNING:

  2. Click on “Launch The Software As A Student”
  3. Correctly enter Your School ID. You must enter all spaces, letters, numbers, and characters exactly for the ID to be accepted.

  1. WAIT for the application to load. Do not press this button more than once. IT WILL TAKE A FEW MINUTES! BE PATIENT!

****If a “Warning – Security….” Window pops up, click “RUN” “OK” or “Trust”…

  1. Enter your User Name. Your user name is your firstnamelastname. (There is no space between your first name and last name and your name should be in all lowercase).
  1. WAIT again for the cognitive tutor to load. This may take a few minutes!!!
  1. You will enter the cognitive tutor at the table of contents screen. Before you begin a problem set, you should look through the lesson for a quick tutorial.

  1. After reading through the lesson, you can begin your assigned problems by pressing the Start Problems button at the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  1. If you get stuck while working, you can ask for a hint to guide you. You can also see a completed example by pressing this button.
  1. When you finish a problem, press Done.
  1. Continue answering questions until all of your skills bars are GOLD and full!
