Grading:

There will be two exams, the mid-term and final, each worth 200 points (40%). A quiz score worth 100 points (20%) will also be assigned. Quizzes based on assigned homework (ungraded) will be given three or four times per week. The lowest two quiz grades will be dropped. The grading scale is as follows:

Makeup Exams:

If you need to miss an exam due to illness, family emergency, religious holiday (see below), or other emergency situations, please let me know as soon as possible. Makeup exams will only be given if an acceptable written excuse is produced. You must notify me before the scheduled time of the exam.

Calculators:

The use of calculators will be allowed during exams. Students should have an understanding of the operation of a calculator for this course.

Cheating:

Any form of academic misconduct, as outlined in Part IX of the Student Affairs Handbook,will not be tolerated. I consider copying homework assignments from fellow students or from solution manuals to be cheating. If I determine that cheating has occurred on a homework assignment, I will assign all parties involved a grade of 0 for that assignment. If a student repeatedly cheats on homework, or if a student is found to have cheated on an exam, then disciplinary action, as outlined in Part IX, Section C of the Student Affairs Handbook, will be pursued.

ADA Accommodation: Any student who, because of a disability, may require some special arrangements in order to meet course requirements should contact the instructor as soon as possible to make such accommodations as may be necessary.

Religious Holy Day Observance (OP 30.16): “2. A student who is absent from classes for the observance of a religious holy day shall be allowed to take an examination or complete an assignment scheduled for that day within a reasonable time after the absence if, not later than the fifteenth day after the first day of the semester, the student had notified the instructor of each scheduled class that the student would be absent for a religious holy day.”
