2015

The Robert O'Clair Prize for Poetry

is presented to an undergraduate student who submits the best previously unpublished poetry. Three poems per student will be accepted. All submissions should include one typed copy with titles on the copy but no name. Please also turn in a separate cover sheet with the titles and your name and contact information.

The Sr. Eileen O’Gorman Prize for Short Fiction

is presented to an undergraduate student who submits the best previously unpublished work of short prose fiction. Submissions normally take the form of a short story. Only one submission per student will be accepted. All submissions should include one typed copy with title on the copy but no name. Please also turn in a separate cover sheet with the title and your name and contact information.

The Sr. Margaret Williams Prize for Literary Criticism

is presented to an undergraduate student who submits the best previously unpublished work of literary criticism. While the format for literary criticism is open, priority will be given to papers written in literature courses that show a combination of critical insight and scholarly research, and are of a publishable length. Only one submission per student will be accepted. All submissions should include one typed copy with title on the copy but no name. Please also turn in a separate cover sheet with the title and your name and contact information.

The Dan Masterson Prize for Screenwriting

Presented to an undergraduate who submits the best ‘first act’ of a feature screenplay (no more than 35 pages) accompanied by a full-script outline. All submissions should include one typed copy with title on the copy but no name. Please also turn in a separate cover sheet with the titles and your name and contact information.

The William K. Everson Prize for Writing on Film

Presented to an undergraduate who submits the best film analysis and/or film history essay. Only one submission per student will be accepted. All submissions should include one typed copy with title on the copy but no name. Please also turn in a separate cover sheet with the title and your name and contact information.

Winners receive the English Department book prize, are recognized at the the College Awards Ceremony, are featured at the spring Graffiti reading and are published in Graffiti.
