Be a part of the cycle...look for the recycle symbol when you shop.

How do I recycle?

Using cardboard boxes, paper bags, and reusable recycling containers, separate your recyclables into the following categories represented by the bullet points below.
Staff and volunteers will unload the recycling from your vehicle and return all reusable recycling containers during your visit.
Please remember to empty and rinse your containers.

ITEMS ACCEPTED:

BOTTLES AND CONTAINERS / PAPER ITEMS
  • Aluminum Cans, Trays, & Foil (please crush)
  • Steel Cans & Tins
  • Clear Glass Bottles and Jars - (no colors)
  • #1 PET Clear Plastic Bottles (soda, water, & flavored beverages)
  • #2 HDPE Plastic Bottles – Natural (milk water jugs)
  • #2 HDPE Plastic Bottles – Colored (detergent & fabric softener containers)
  • #1 PET Non-Bottles, #3 PVC, #5 PP, #6 PS, and #7 Mixed Plastic Containers (clam shells, health beauty products, household cleaners, yogurt cups, cottage cheese containers, syrup, ketchup bottles, plastic lids)

  • Newspaper, including inserts & telephone books (remove plastic sleeves)
  • Cardboard (no waxed cardboard) including box board (cereal, gift boxes, shoe boxes, etc.)
  • Office, Computer, Notebook, (remove spirals and binders) Mail, Envelopes (no plastic cards or stickers)
  • Magazine/Catalogs



A collaboration between the City of Albion and the Calhoun County Community Development Department.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:

  • Motor oil, insecticide, herbicide or hazardous chemical containers
  • Plastic buckets, storage tubs, and other molded plastic items
  • Plastic bags – instead reuse or return to grocery, or department store
  • Plastic sheets or film (tarps or wrap). This includes packaging from cases of water bottles
  • Plastic pet food, mulch, and water softener salt bags
  • Electronic devices such as coffee makers, vacuums, televisions, computers, computer monitors
  • Appliances
  • Tires
  • CFL or fluorescent light bulbs – please take these to a Household Hazardous Waste collection
  • Carpet or carpet padding
  • Furniture
  • Window glass, auto glass, dinnerware, or ceramics

Please do not bring your items in plastic grocery store or garbage bags.
These items can’t be recycled at the Marshall Recycling Center.
Consider using reusable containers or placing your items in a cardboard box or paper bag which can be recycled at the center.
Having your items pre-sorted will expedite the recycling process and reduce the waiting time.

By sorting the recyclables into specific categories, you create less of a carbon footprint.
By reducing the miles recyclables travel on the roadways to sorting facilities, more valuable recycling commodities are created.
