Dear Parents:

Greeting from LMS Keyboarding Lab:

I would like to introduce myself to you as your child’s IBA/ Keyboarding teacher. My name is Mr. Corry Stevenson. I’m from Orangeburg, S.C.; I’m a graduate from Denmark Technical College in Electricity/Electronics (1993), Voorhees College with a BA in Organizational Management (2003) and Claflin University with a MBA (2008).

Today, August 17, 2016, marks the beginning of the first semester. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this semester. You are also welcome to visit my Lab (Room 402) at anytime during the semester.

To keep you abreast of what your child will be learning in my Lab, I have attached a copy of the course requirements and rules/procedure for the Lab. Please read and discuss the attached sheets with your child. If you have any concerns or comments about the course requirements or the rules/procedure, you may attach them to this letter or write them on the back of this sheet.

Please sign at the bottom and return this letter to me by Thursday, August 25, 2016to let me know that you are aware of what your child will be learning in Keyboarding. Thisletter willcount as a graded assignment for your child.

Classroom Management Plan

General Rules

Respect the teacher and classmates

Follow classroom rules and procedures for setting a positive atmosphere in the classroom.

No fighting, threats, or verbal abuse anyone

Be in the classroom on time

Food and drinks are NOT allowed in class.

Instructional Material Required

3-ring binder with paper (l 1/2 inch or larger)

Class Assignments

Make sure the assignment has your full name (First and Last), and date class period, page #number in the top right hand corner. Student progress in this course will be monitored through test, projects, quizzes, class assignments, participation. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced. Students should review notes daily.

Grading Scale:

The approved state grade scale will be used.

A = 90-100

B = 80-89

C = 70-79

D = 60-69

F = below 60

Homework (if assigned)

Students are encouraged if they have a computer at home or the local community library to practice skills to help develop and improve basic computer skills, navigating the internet, software, graphic design, and other useful skills.Typing and Keyboard Skills: Familiarize yourself with the keyboard, or practice your speed and accuracy.

Classroom Environment

Each student’s activities is to ensure a clean, sanitary environment. Performing cleanliness and making necessary equipment adjustments for operational tasks of perform and prepare equipment for operation.

Computer Workstations

Each students has one computer per student for each student learning centers. The arrangement of furniture, is to create for individual students to complete assignments or projects that can be either worked within small-groups/ partner, or independently. Student’s chairs may be pushed together for small-group activities.

Managing Restroom

To help keep disruption to other classes and roaming the halls to a minimum, please use the restroom before each classes start times.

Rewarding Good Behavior

  • Fun Friday students who following classrooms rule and /or completed all weekly class assignment will be rewarded, by having Fun Fridays Games.
  • I will acknowledge publicly student who have positive behavior. I will only publicly talking about positive behavior.
  • I will encourage positive behavior with positive correction. I will do it with a positive approach; my goal is to help with students’ self-esteem, which will influence the attitudes and behaviors of other student for changing his/her, behavior.
