POLICIES:
Full class fee is required before first session in order to secure space. Space is made available on a first come, first served basis and will not be held unless advance payment is received. NO MONIES WILL BE COLLECTED IN CLASS. In addition to tuition, a once yearly membership fee (September 1 through August 31) of $25.00 for adults and $8.00 for junior membersmust
be paid at this time.(Anyone who has become a member in the summer of2010 does not have to pay membership fee again.) NO REFUND WILL BE MADE EXCEPT IF A CLASS IS CANCELLED OR OVER-SUBSCRIBED WHEN MONIES ARE RECEIVED. A make-up will be scheduled if a class(es) is called off on our part. Students missing classes will not receive a refund or make-up.

ABOUT OUR FACULTY:
CHRISTINA DEBARRY - listed in Who’s Who in American Art, is President Emeritus of the Pastel Society of America 1998 – 2001. She is an elected member (Vice President) of the Allied Artists of America, a member of The Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Club, Pen and Brush, Inc., and The Salmagundi Club; IAPS former Board of Directors, Artist Fellowship, American Artist Professional League (Fellow,) Audubon Artist. She has received The Dianne B. Bernhard Gold Medal Award in Pastel , the Gold MedalArt Spirit Foundation Pastel Award, Audubon Artists; NYC; Distinguished Merit Award, NJAAPL; and the HK Holbein Award from The Pastel Society of America.
LAURIE HARDEN – currently working as a free lance illustrator. Some of her clients have included Harper Collins, Ladies Home Journal, McGraw-Hill, Redbook, the New York Times, Scholastic and Simon & Schuster. An award winner, her work has been featured in local galleries and venues in NY & NJ. She has won a number of Best in Show prizes. The National Cancer Institute, Sloan Kettering Hospital and St. Barnabus Hospital have some of her paintings in their collections.
MARK de MOS – is an elected member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society as well as a signature member of the North East Watercolor Society in Kent,
CT, the Garden State and Baltimore Watercolor Societies. In addition, he has concentrated on pastel studies. His aim was to enable him to acquire a different perspective on the use and understanding of color, value, intensity and texture which was carried into both his watercolor and pastel work. Recently, he has become the first President of the newly formed Pastel Society of NJ. Recipient of numerous awards and honors, - both nationally and locally, - his artwork has been featured in publications of North Light Press, entitled “The Best of Watercolors, SPLASH8 and SPLASH9.
CAROL LYNN NELLEN – a Certified Art Teacher for Grades K-12 has taught in the West Orange Public School System since 1970. She attended William Paterson University of New Jersey and the University of New Hampshire where she was graduated with a B.S. in Art Education and also received her teaching certification. To further her knowledge, she attended and earned graduate credits at Montclair State University, Kean University, Upsala College and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
ALEX PICCIRILLO has been designated a Master Pastellist by the Pastel Society of America. Currently teaching at The Montclair Art Museum, he has also taught at The Yard School of Art, The National Arts Club and Nutley High School for gifted and talented students. His work has been exhibited in many prestigious locales, e.g., The National Academy of Design, The Montclair Art Museum, The Bergen Museum, The Paterson Museum, The Hammond Museum, etc. Recipient of numerous awards and honors, his artwork has been featured in several art publications of Rockport Publishers.
ANN TAYLOR–award winning artist, explores watercolor techniques with emphasis on wetintowet brushing, washes, masking out, composition and value. She has a B.A. in Fine & Applied Arts from Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, N.Y. Further studiesin NYC included courses at The New School For Social Research andThe School of Visual Arts as well as The Yard School in Montclair, N.J. She has had several solo exhibits in this area and she is an elected member of The N.J. Watercolor Society.
MELANIE RACANELLI – A certified Art Teacher for Grades K-12 taught in the Edison Middle School in W.O. School system and is currently on their faculty,the Primary Prep Elementary School and the Lester Noeker School in Roseland. She graduated with a B.A. Fine Arts Degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC, post graduate degree from Caldwell College, and graduate study at the college of St. Elizabeth, Morristown. She has been a Graphic Designer for Horizon, NY, a Graphics Arts Director at Liz Clairborne Special Markets, Assistant Designer at Adjmi Apparel and Assistant Merchanise Manager at Ralph Lauren.
THOMAS VALENTI – listed in who’s who in America Art, is the President of New York’s Allied Artists of America. He is member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists, the American Artists Professional League and is past president of Essex Watercolor Club. His work is in the Permanent collections of the Lipton Tea Company, Hoffmann-La Roche, Rutgers University and many private and corporate collections. He has taught at the Montclair Art Museum, Yard School of Art, Summit Art Center and currently at the Ridgewood Community School, He has also taught mural painting techniques in New York and San Francisco and was a participant in the restoration of the Hunt-Phelan Estate, the oldest surviving pre-Civil War home now owned by Graceland in Memphis, Tenn.

WEATHER It may be difficult to keep to the announced schedule of classes for the winter season. Livingston Arts Association will close with the onset of snow storm or other inclement weather as well as when the Livingston Public Schools are closed. You will be notified by phone if this occurs. Closings on our part will necessitate a make-up and you will be apprised of the date change.
