Welcome to the Ghanaians Queensland60th Independence Day celebrations. I’m so pleased that you could all join us as we say, ‘Ayekoo Ghana!” Which, roughly translated, means, “well done Ghana”.
My name is Liza Botchway and I am honoured to be your master of ceremonies tonight.
I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land upon which we meet today, and pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
May I ask that everyone be upstanding as we welcome His Excellency, Mr Samuel Yao Kumah, acting Ghana High Commission to Australia, accompanied by Mrs Matilda Kumah, First Secretary, Ghana High Commission – who also happens to be his lovely wife. They are joined by former president of Ghanaians Queensland Ben Agyare
