To advise and independently manage a caseload of Direct Payment (DP) users, on their responsibilities on how to be a good employer, and to assist and support users with the recruitment of suitable staff and provide on-going support and advice.

Possability People is a user-led organisation that works to promote independence and dignity for all disabled people. These aims fit with the aims of Direct Payments Support Service (DPSS) which is to enable service users to achieve independent living by giving them choice and control over their daily living arrangements.

  • To manage a case load and hold 1:1 sessions with clients,as directed and supported by line manager/
  • To maintain up to date guidance and advice on becoming a goodemployer.
  • Too provide budgeting advice for a service users.
  • To provide ongoing support to all our service users, including those with complex needs and challenging behaviour,as the need arises. This will require visits to see clients outside of the office environment.
  • To assist with the induction/training of Adult Social Care (ASC)Assessment Officers on the Direct Payments process
  • To be proactive around Personal Assistants (P)recruitment
  • To refer DP service usersto other appropriate services and activities as required,taking a personalised approach to the care package.
  • To liaise directly with ASC Assessment Officers, and other ASC professionals, in relation to the users of the Direct Payments Scheme,
  • To attend and actively contribute to regular staff and team meetings.
  • To maintain and develop own knowledge of relevant aspects of legislation, policy and implementation of Direct Payments.
  • To attend 6-weekly managerial supervision.
  • To provide administrative support, including dealing with day-to-day correspondence, photocopying, telephone calls and arranging meetings.
  • To perform other tasks when requested which are not detailed above but are essential for the smooth running of the service,as directed by line manager.
  • To ensure that Possability People’s policies and procedures are adhered to, particularly those relating to Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Health & Safety.

  • Regular travel/working within Brighton & Hove and East Sussex is required.
