  • Minutes were approved

  • CM to contact IBM
  • Joan to invite representative from LINK
  • CM to forward addresses of university equality personnel to DOD
/ 2 Matters arising
  • GLEN were contacted and Davin replied to say he will attend on behalf of the organisation. GLEN committed to advertise this event to private sector employers.
  • An announcement about the workshop has been drafted to send to all seven Irish universities (drafted by DOD and EW).
  • The network still needs to secure a UK speaker. Having difficulty getting a commitment due to Stonewall event in the UK happening around the same time as UCC event.
  • IUA are providing funding for this event so no need to contact Stonewall for financial support.
  • EW has circulated questions to speakers.
  • Catherine O’Donnell will advertise workshop in Lesbian Lives on 14th Feb 09.

  • CK to contact DJ in Glucksman to ask about Café opening hours and confirm the presence of someone to help with logistics on the day
  • CM to ask MR to upload text requesting people to inform the network if they need reasonable accommodations for attendance at this workshop
  • Richard O’Leary will source speaker from Queens.
  • EW and CK to invite IFUT and SIPTU reps to event
  • Marie McSweeney to be asked to advertise workshop
  • JMcC to gather material from speakers
/ 3 LGBT Workshop
  • Location – DJ has confirmed accessibility of Glucksman. EW has confirmed accessibility of Dunlea – event will be held on ground floor of this building. There are some steps up the building but Dunlea are organising a ramp. Toilets are on the ground floor of this building.
  • Optional – breakfast meeting in the Old Bar??
  • There will be a location suggested to those interested in meeting socially the night before and the night of the workshop
  • Speakers – Prof Whelton to open, 2 x speakers from Labour LGBT, Sheila Crowley (INTO), Michael Barron (Belong), Jason Dowling (Google)
  • Group agreed that better gender balance is needed in line-up
  • Another all staff e-mail will be sent to all UCC staff two weeks before the event to advertise it.
  • IUA Equality Network will facilitate 4pm session
  • CM will do role of Order of the Day
  • EW, JMcC and CK to chair
  • The network agreed that expenses would e covered for 2 nights B&B in Garnish House and train fare for Sheila Crowley, Jason Dowling and Michael Barron
  • Attendance list – CK has organised a folder in the networks inbox to record all bookings
