Dear Exhibitors, Parents, and Supporters;

AnotheryearhascomeandgoneandnowweareplanningtheAnnualLeonCountyYouthLivestockShow.Thecommitteeisveryexcitedaswehavebeenplanningthisyear’sshoweversinceloadoutonWednesdayApril15,2017.

The2018 showwillbeginonSaturday,April14,2018 with Clean up and pen set up by all exhibitors. Exhibitors will begin showing on Monday, April 16, 2018andconcludeonSaturday,April21,2018 with load outs and barn clean up by all exhibitors.Thisyear’sSaleofChampionswilltakeplaceontheeveningofFriday,April20,2018.Wehavehadgreatresponsefromthischangeandwe look forward to the 2018show.

IttakesmonthsandmonthsofplanninginordertoputontheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShow,anditcanonlyhappenbecauseofthededicationofthemanyvolunteersandcommitteepeoplethatsacrificetheirtimeandefforttoensure thattheshowistheverybestthatitcanbe.Istronglyencourageeveryparent,exhibitorandinterestedpartytoread,andsave,theattached2018ShowRules.Itistheresponsibilityofeachexhibitorandparenttoknowtherulesaswellasthecommittee.EachyeartheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShowCommitteemakeschangestotherulesandwestronglysuggestthatyoumakeyourselffamiliarwithanyrulechangesfromthepreviousyear.Changestothisyear’srulebookincludestheMarketHog Weight Limit, Pee Wee Showmanship for Lambs and Goats, Removal of Breeding Lambs and Goats,and Addition of Ag Products ID.Thisrulebookcontainsvalidationdates,policiesandguidelinesthatyou(exhibitor)areexpectedtocomplywithinordertoparticipateinthe2018LeonCountyYouthLivestockShowandSale.IfyouhavequestionsyoushouldcontactyourAgriculturalScienceTeacher,CountyExtensionAgent,4Hleader,orLeonCounty Youth Livestock ShowCommittee Member.

GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION

1.Interpretation and Violation of Rules:

A.TheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShowreservesforitsmanagementthefinalandabsoluterighttointerpret theserulesandregulationsandtherighttoamendoradd to these rules as its judgement maydetermine and settle all matters, questions and differences in regards to these rules.

B.Anyexhibitorwhoviolatesanyoftheruleswillforfeitallsuchprivilegesandpremiumsaffordedbythestock show as management may order.

2.TheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShowandSaleisopentoactiveeligibleCounty4-HandHighSchoolFFA youth that reside in the Buffalo, Centerville, Leon, *Normangee and Oakwood School Districts.

*ANormangee4-HorFFAmembermayvalidateanentryintheLeonCountyYouthLivestock

Show only if that exhibitor has not validated an entry (of any type) in the Normangee

Livestock Show.

IfaLeonCounty 4-HorFFAyouthparticipatesinany other county livestock show withamarketanimalthatmember cannot participate in the Leon County Livestock Show.

3.ExhibitorsmustmeetALL4-HandFFAClubrequirementsand be an active member in good standing by November 1st, tobeeligibletoshow.ThisincludestheState“NoPass/NoPlay”requirementsasmandatedbytheTexasEducationAgencyandLegislature.Startingwiththe2013showallexhibitorsmustpassthe“QualityCounts”program.TheQualityCountsVerificationcan befoundatVERIFICATIONNUMBERMUSTBEPRESENTED AT COUNTY VALIDATION.

4.All4-HandFFAprojectsmustbeinpossessionanddailycareoftheexhibitorbythevalidationdatespecifiedin the rules andremaininpossessionforthe entire feeding period.All projects are subject to unannounced inspections by superintendents or superintendents’ designees.

5.An exhibitor may show more than one project, butmayonlysellorpresent one project.

A.Exhibitors must bepresentatthesaletobeeligibletoselltheirprojectunlessexcusedbytheShowcommittee.Iftheexhibitorisnotpresentwhenitistimetosellandhasnotreceivedpermissionforasubstitute(seerule#6) the animal will not be sold.

B.Allchampion(GrandReserve)marketanimals,mustsellunlessone(1)exhibitorhasmultiplechampions.Ifoneexhibitorhasmorethanone(1)champion(beingeitherGrandorReserve)thatexhibitormustmakeitknownpriortotheThursdayafternoondeadlinewhichchampionwillbesold.RecognitionwillbegiventothatexhibitorthenightofthePremiumSaleforhavingmorethanonechampionatthe show.Ifan exhibitor hasmultiplechampionsan alternatewillbe addedtothat species fromwhichthechampionisnotsold.Atotalof140animalswillbesoldafterallanimalshavebeenconsidered.

6.A substitute exhibitor will be allowed to show or sell under the following circumstances:

A.SevereIllnessorInjury–AdoctorsstatementmustbesubmittedtotheShowChairmanassoonaspossible prior to the Show or Sale date.

B.Death in the immediate family

C.Schoolsponsoredactivity(thiswillalsoincludeparticipationinregionalandnationalLittleDribblercompetition)–Thissubstitutionrequestmustbemadeinwritingbytheexhibitor’sparents and/orguardianuponarrivalattheshow.Thisrequestmustbeaccompaniedbyanotarizedstatement,signedbyaschooladministrator,onschoolletterhead,statingthespecificreasonasubstituteisrequestedinthecaseofLittleDribblercompetition,alettersignedbythecountyorganizationalpresidentthatincludesthedates,timeandlocationofthecompetition.

7.AsubstituteexhibitormustbeamemberingoodstandinginaLeonCounty4-HorFFAClub.

Substituteexhibitors may not compete in Showmanship Classes.

8.Showmanshipwillbedividedintothree(3)agecategoriesinthefollowingdivisions:Steers,MarketSwine,BreedingSwine,Lambs,Goats,HalterHeifersandBroilers.JuniorShowmanshipwillbecomprisedofexhibitors whoareenrolled in 3rd through 5th grade asofshow date.IntermediateShowmanshipwillbecomprisedofexhibitorswhoareenrolled in 6th through 8th gradeasofshowdate.SeniorShowmanshipwillbe comprised ofexhibitors whoareenrolled in 9th through 12th grade asofshowdate.Exhibitors must own the animal tobeeligibleforShowmanship.AHerdsmanAwardwill be given in the Commercial Heifer Division. Adult showmanship incattle willbe provided.Adults do nothavetoownanimal.There are PeeWeeclassesofshowmanshipinswine, halter heifers, goats, and lambs, and areopentoexhibitorsatleast 5 years of age and up to the age of 4-H eligibility which is third grade.

9.UnethicalFitting:Tofosterfaircompetition,providealevelplayingfieldandtoprotectthesafetyoffood,theshowingofunethicallyfittedlivestockorlivestockofanyineligibleageforexhibitionintheclassenteredisstrictlyprohibited.Unethicallyfittingmeansanyattempttoalterthenatural appearance,confirmation,musculatureorweightofanyanimalbyanyunnaturalmeans,includingsurgery,orbytheuseofinjectionsorfeedingofmaterialnotconducivetothehealthoftheanimal,safetyofthefoodormarketabilityofitscarcass.(Unethicalfittingincludesbutisnotlimitedtoartificially fillinganimalsbystomach pumping,airinginjections, bruising,etc.)Animalsshowingsigns of having been unethically fitted will be disqualified. Asa condition for participation in the Showeveryexhibitormustagreetosubmitanyanimalenteredbytheexhibitorforinspection.TheexhibitoragreestohavesuchanimalsubmittedtoanytestsrequestedbytheShow.TheexhibitoralsoagreesthattheopinionreachedbytheShoworitsofficialstowhethersuchanimalisunethicallyfittedshallbefinalandbindingwithoutrecourseagainsttheShoworanyofitsofficersor committee persons.

A.NOADHESIVES,OILS,COLORING, POWDERS,GLITTERORPAINTISALLOWEDONSHOWOR SALE ANIMALS. WATER ONLY IS ALLOWED.

10.Unsportsmanlikeconductbyexhibitororparentswillbegrounds for disqualification and

forfeiture of premium or awards. (Also see Rule 11B and Rule 29).

11.A.Anyshowprotestmustbesubmittedinwritingalongwitha$100cashdepositto the Show Chairman.

AGrievance committee appointed by the chairman willconsideraproperlysubmittedprotest.If the

protestisupheld,thedepositwillbereturned.Iftheprotestisdenied,thedepositwillbeforfeited.All

protest mustbe filed prior to the conclusion of that specific class of animal’s check-in time.

B.Anyanimal/exhibitordisqualified,foranyreason,mustbenotifiedinwritingatthetimeofdisqualificationthereasontheyarebeingdisqualified.TheywillbeentitledtoameetingwiththeShowCommitteeatthattime,iftheydisputethereasonfortheirdisqualification.Themeetingmustcontain atleastfive(5)CommitteeMembers,withaminimumofonememberbeingeithertheSuperintendent of the class of animal in question, the Show Chairman or the County Extension Agent.

C.AnyexhibitorwhochoosestowithdrawamarketanimalfromtheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShow,afterthatanimalhasqualifiedforthePremiumSale,mustsubmitinwritingtotheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShowAssociation,Inc.,thereasonfortheirwithdrawaloftheanimal.Thelettermustincludethedateofwithdrawal,theanimaltagnumber,thereasonforwithdrawing,andmustbesignedbyboththeexhibitandparent/guardian,beforetheanimalwillbereleasedbyLeonCountyYouthLivestockShowAssociation, Inc.Thisdoesnotincludesituationswherebytheexhibitorischoosing between two animals that have both qualified for the premium sale.

12.A $50.00penaltywill beassessedtoasaleornon-saleexhibitorwhodoesnotreportinperson(or byadesignatedrepresentative)tohis/hersuperintendentby8:00amonthedayofloadout.Exhibitor is personally responsible for the disposition and loading of his/her animal.

13.LiabilityStatement:TheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShowand its representativesarenotresponsibleforaccidentsand/orlossordamagetopersonalpropertyorlivestock.AllexhibitorsandexhibitsmustcomplywiththerulesandregulationsoftheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShow,buttheShowinnocasewillberesponsibleforanylossordamagethatmay occur.Eachexhibitorwillbesolely responsibleforanyconsequentialorotherloss,injuryordamage doneto,oroccasioned byorarisingfrom,anyanimal orarticleexhibited byhim/her andshallindemnifytheShowagainstalllegalorotherproceedingsinregardthereto,aswell asdamageorinjurytoanyotherpersonorproperty,causedbytheexhibitor,oranyoftheanimalsexhibited byhim/her orarising outof,orinanyway connected withsuchexhibition of any animals so exhibited.

14.A commissionofsevenpercent(7%)willbechargedonalllivestockexhibitssold at the auction.Acommissionofsevenpercent(7%)willalsobechargedontotaladd-onsof$100oroverperexhibitor.

18.Theuseofelectricalclippers(includes batterypoweredorcordless clippers)on anyanimalisprohibitedattheLeonCountyExpoCenterfromSaturday,April14,2018,throughFriday,April21,2018.Violation of this rule to any degree will result in immediate disqualification of that animal.

19.Allexhibitorsareresponsibleforthecareofprojectswhileatthecountyshow.AnyShowofficialmayremoveanyunrulyanimalfromtheShow.Therewillbenoappeal. Cattlemustbeshownwithhalterand be sufficiently gentle to be properly handled by one attendant on foot.

20.Showingananimalforanotherindividualbyclaimingownershipinordertoshowinaspecificlivestockclass or event is prohibited. False ownership is illegal.(Pee Wee events are exempt from this rule).

21.Theuseofdrugs/medicationonmarketanimalsmustbeanapprovedsubstancebytheFederalFoodand DrugAdministration.Allexhibitorsshalladviseshowmanagementofanydrugsand/ormedicationadministeredtoananimalthat mightbe detected at the time of showing oratmeatinspection.Anyuse ofdrugsorsubstancenotapprovedbytheFoodandDrugAdministrationisstrictlyprohibited.Allfeedwithdrawalrequirementswillbemetbytheexhibitorattheirexpense.THEBOARDRESERVES THE RIGHTTO SUBMIT ANY ANIMAL TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING.AcopyoftheLeonCountyYouthLivestockShowAssociationDrugTestingPolicyisattachedas“EXHIBIT A”.

22.Showmanagement reservestherighttorequirehealthcertificates.Diseasedanimalswillbebarredfromtheshow.Specialcarewillbetakenthatnoanimalhavingadiseaseofanycharacterwillbeadmittedinto theshowgroundsatanytime,andlivestockshowofficialsareinstructedandauthorizedtorefuseunloading privileges to any stock having a disease or undesirable ailment.

23.All animals validated for the Leon County Youth Livestock Show will be subject to DNA testing.

24.Lossofvalidationtagsongoats,steers,lambs,hogsandcommercialheifersmustbereportedimmediatelytothe DepartmentSuperintendentor Advisor.Show officials will determine the validity of a re-tag.Any animal retagged will be subject to DNA verification.

25.Allmarketandbreedingshowexhibitorswillberesponsibleforcleaningtheirstalls,pensorcagesthroughthedurationoftheshow.CommercialHeiferExhibitorswillberesponsiblefordisassemblingallcommercial heifer pens and assisting in the clean-up of the Commercial Heifer stalling area.

26.All saleexhibitors willremainattheauctionsaleuntilthecompletesaleis overorwhentheirsuperintendent gives them permission to leave.

27.Allauctionsaleexhibitorsandalternateswillberequiredtohavetheirpicturemadeattimestobedetermined by the show officials.

28.ExhibitorcheckswillbeavailablefromtheShowapproximately6-8weeksfollowingthecloseoftheshow.Checkswillnotbereleasedtoanexhibitoruntiltheyhavereturnedthesigned“CertificateofPhotoandLetterDelivery”indicatingthattheyhavedeliveredtheirthankyounoteandpicturetotheirbuyer.Nounpaidadd-onswillbegiventoexhibitor.CheckswillalsobewithheldfromexhibitorswithoutstandingShow debt.

SINGLE FRYERRABBITRULES

1.All entries in this division will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations of the Leon County Youth Livestock Show.

2.An entry shall consist of a single fryer rabbit weighing not less than 3 and not more than5 pounds with a scale tolerance of 2 ounces.

3.No rabbit entered in the single fryer show may have already been placed in the market rabbit sale order.

4.Californian and New Zealand breeds only will be allowed to show.

5.All entries must have a validation tattoo administered at the time of the market rabbit validation.

6.Single fryer rabbit check in will be held at the same time as the market rabbit check-in on day of show.

7.Belt buckles and rosettes will be awarded to Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Fryer Rabbits.

8.Ribbons will be awarded for third through tenth place.

9.The single fryer rabbit show will begin immediately following the market rabbit show.

10.This will be a carrying case only show. All cages must have bottoms. Pens at livestock show will not be provided.

11.The exhibitors will furnish their own carrying cases and all supplies for their rabbits.

12.Any diseased rabbit will be disqualified immediately and must be removed from show grounds.
