  • Come to class prepared and ready to work
  • Communicate with Ms. Rieder

Homework Policies and Expectations:

  • You can expect to have LA6 homework Monday through Thursday nights. Homework is due the following day, unless you are otherwise informed. Some long term assignments are given throughout the year. It is important to budget your time and to have these assignments ready to turn in on the day they are due.
  • Homework will be posted on the homework board; however, many explanations of assignments will take place orally during class. It is important to listen to instructions in order to ensure you understand the assignment.
  • If you are absent, it is your responsibility to determine what was missedand to write the assignments in your agenda book. Check edlio (MIS.pvpusd.net) for all assignments and handouts.
  • You are responsible for making arrangements to make up any missed tests. You will have one day to make up missed work/tests for each day that you are absent. If you are absent the day before a test, you will still be expected to take the test upon return. Long term assignments are due on the day you return from absence unless previous arrangements have been made with the teacher. Failure to make up a test or work within the appropriate amount of time results in a zero on the assignment/test.
  • Be sure to include a proper heading in the right hand corner of all assignments. Failure to do this will result in a ½ point deduction and sometimes no credit (if I am unable to identify the owner of the assignment). Therefore, it is crucial to always include a proper heading:

Last Name, First Name

Subject, Period

Date

  • Homework must be neat, complete, and ready to hand in at the beginning of class.
  • Late assignments will receive an infraction, plus one point deduction for each day that they are late.
  • You are expected to do your own work. Copying someone else’s work, as well as forging a parent’s signature, will result in an automatic N in citizenship.

Testing

Any communicating during a test (talking, smiling at others, winking, laughing, texting, etc.) will result in an automatic zero on a test, a visit to the vice principals office and an N grade for Citizenship. This is true for any type of cheating.

Grading

Your academic grade will be determined on a strict point basis. You will earn points on homework, classwork, projects and tests. Your grade will be based on the percentage of the total possible points earned.

Academic Grade Scale:

100-98.5% A+ 98.4-92.5% A 92.4-89.5% A- 89.4-87.5 B+ 87.4-82.5% B 82.4-79.5% B- 79.4-77.5% C+ 77.4-72.5% C 72.4-69.5% C- 69.4-67.5% D+ 67.4-62.5% D 62.4-59.5% D- 59.4-0% F

Your citizenship/work habits grade will be determined by classroom behavior, participation, and work habits. Infractions will be given out for poor citizenship/work habits. The number of infractions received per trimester determines the outcome of your citizenship grade; (however, in extreme cases of poor citizenship/behavior the teacher reserves the right to override this system and to choose the appropriate citizenship grade).

Citizenship Grade Scale:

0-3.5 Infractions O= Outstanding

4-7.5 Infractions S= Satisfactory

8-15.5 Infractions N= Needs Improvement

16 or more Infractions U= Unsatisfactory

Whew! Now the fun can begin. Let’s make this a wonderful year at MIS. Go Marauders!

With gratitude,
