Congratulations to Eryr and Gwdihw for their wonderful assembly this morning. It was fantastic to see so many parents/carers back in the classrooms. Staff were especially pleased to hear so many positive comments. One mum wrote, ‘Really impressed by the books. A very wide range of purposeful, challenging and exciting work…’ Comments like this make all our hard work worthwhile!

Swimming Gala Well done to all the children who took part; we came 3rd. Also a massive “thank you” to the parents who helped out all day. It was lovely to hear that our children behaved well and that they were a credit to the school.

Cashless System Schools across Powys are moving to a cashless payment system for school meals. Where it has already been introduced, parents/cares have found this payment system more convenient, quicker and safer than sending cash into school. Our school has been told that we’re ‘going live’ (ie the system will be up and running) on June 13th. Please look out for further information sent home with your child/ren after half term. Details will also be e-mailed out and posted on our Facebook page.

Parent/carer/teacher conversations Sometimes parents and teachers need to exchange information quickly at the start or the end of the day. Even when this is convenient for both parties, staff will always be happy to rearrange for a more confidential meeting if you prefer.

Safe in the Sun In line with schools across the country, we teach our children the importance of staying safe in the sun. Please can you ensure that your child has the following named items throughout the summer months: a sunhat, suncream and a clean, filled, water bottle.

All cheques, for example for Breakfast Club and Staylittle, are now to be made out to Powys County Council (or PCC).

West Midlands Safari Park trip. The children are getting really excited now about the forthcoming trip. Unfortunately there seems to have been some misunderstanding with a small number of parents/carers about the selection of parent volunteers and even a rumour that there is some kind of waiting list or a special ‘clique’ of favoured parents! The reality is that staff spend a long time working out ratios and risk assessments for trips. Also, when we travel by bus there are restrictions on numbers. Because of this, staff first ask volunteers with whom the children are familiar or for other specific reasons related to risk assessments. Anyone who offered to help out on 9th June and is disappointed will be pleased to hear that staff often struggle to find enough support for weekly swimming or for walks because so many parents/carers have other commitments. If you have any other concerns, PLEASE come and see us.
