MRS. FOGERTY’S

STATISTICS

***KEYS FOR SUCCESS***

#1 – KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT

Our Goal: To introduce the world of statistics in a fresh and memorable way. We’ll explore data – the good, bad and ugly; organize it, make it pretty, model it and see if we can make any discoveries about the world around us. This course will be an excellent introduction for higher level statistical studies.

#2 - BEST EFFORT- EVERY DAY!

Come prepared! Bring to class:

Textbook: Statistics Through Applications 2nd Edition

Completed Assignments

1” Stat Binder (may leave in classroom)

Sharpened Pencils

Loose-Leaf Paper (no spiral fringe)

Calculator – TI Nspire (non-CAS) or TI-84 recommended

(Unfortunately, my class set may not be checked out for use at home.)

Extra batteries (4-AAA) for calculator

A Positive Attitude

#3 – STAY ORGANIZED

Maintain a 1”, 3-ring stat binder with the following 5tabs:

  1. Class Notes (includes Anticipatory Guides)
  2. Homework
  3. Labs
  4. Quizzes
  5. Tests

Keeping your work organized is a great way to be prepared for quizzes & tests and to have material to study for 9 week replacement tests and final exams.

Use proper headings on EVERY assignment:

First and Last Name

Hour

Assignment # (includes page number & problems assigned)

#4 – REMEMBER: GRADES AREN’T EVERYTHING, BUT THEY ARE IMPORTANT

Final grades will be determined by the following:

10%Final Exam

90% Classwork:

Tests 100 points, Quizzes 40-60 points, Labs 40-60 points, Daily Work 15-30 points

Extra Credit: Points can be earned for unredeemed hall passes up to 12 points per semester.

Replacement Tests: At the end of each 9 weeks grading period, a cumulative review test will be given that can be used to replace the lowest test score for that 9 week period.

Drop Lowest Quiz Grade: At the end of each semester, a student is allowed to drop his/her lowest quiz grade.

Late Work Policy:

You have as many days to make up work as the number of days absent. Arrangements for test or quiz make-ups must be made on the day following your return.

Feel free to visit:

Mornings from 7:45-8:10 (or earlier with prior notice)

During my plan period (1st hour) from 8:15-9:10

During 2nd Lunch until 12:40

Afternoons until 3:30

Math Lab: Tues-Fri 7:00-8:00 AM and Mon-Thurs. 3:10-4:40 PM

Teri Simpson (AP Statistics): times vary

Stay Accountable:
