TV2General Manager – Fall 2018

Job description:The TV2 general manager is responsible for the day-to-day editorial operations of TV2. The general manager is the sole authority in determining content for TV2and in turn takes full responsibility for the content decisions made. Job duties include, but are not limited to: assigning content, editing content; making final decisions about what will run or not run in any of the outlet’s content channels (which include, but are not exclusive to broadcast, print, social and digital); personnel decisions about staff (within budget and in consultation with adviser); ensuring all deadlines are met; working with the Student Media Advertising and Marketing team on revenue; working with the Student Media office team to help ensure adherence to approved budgets and university regulations; providing the public face of The KentStaterfor the community; serving on the Student Media leadership team; serving as a non-voting member of the Student Media Board.

Guidelines for the Appointment of Student Media Leaders:

• Applicants must have at least a verified cumulative 2.25 GPA at the time of application and maintain a cumulative 2.25 GPA and be in good standing with the University during their term as a student leader. If the selected leader’s GPA falls below the minimum during their term in office, the leader may be subjected to dismissal following a review by the Student Media Board, a consultation with the adviser and a meeting with the Center for Student Involvement. The Center for Student Involvement has an appeal procedure for students with less that a 2.25 GPA.

• To be a compensated student leader, the student must have a minimum of eight credit hours as an undergraduate and a minimum of six as a graduate student during their term.

• Candidates do not need to bemajors enrolled in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
