Kell Junior Cheer – 2017 Cheerleading Policies

  1. GENERAL OBJECTIVES

Cheerleaders are student athletes and must strive to achieve the highest standards both academically and physically. Cheering for Kell Junior Longhorns is a privilege, NOT a right and those who do not meet the standards of the Constitution may be dismissed from the program with no refund.

Items that MAY be available used are indicated by an asterisk (*) below. Fees for registration, camp, competition, etc. are also required to be part of the program. Please note the payment schedule below as cheerleaders must be current on their fees to attend camps, participate in activities and to receive their uniforms. No orders for items will be placed for those who are not current with their fees. Those who do not pay before the items are ordered will no longer be a part of the program. All fees are non-refundable. If a cheerleader quits or is removed for any reason, a refund will not be issued.

III.BEHAVIOR AND DISCPLINE

As a member of the Kell Junior Cheer Program, you are expected to maintain behavior above reproach because you are a leader in the school. Consequences for violating any regulation in the Constitution will be at the discretion of the KJC Board and will be handled according to the rules of the Kell Junior Cheer. Please keep in mind the following:

  • Any behavior; which is deemed by a Board Member as reflecting poorly on the intended image of the program – no matter where the incident takes place – is subject to dismissal from the program at the KJC Board’s discretion.
  • Inappropriate content – as determined by the KJC Board – on webpages (ie: MySpace, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, etc.) is subject to discipline. Repeated infractions are subject to dismissal from the program.
  • Uniforms and jerseys should only be worn at games and events approved by the Kell Junior Cheer Program. Inappropriate use of the Kell cheerleading uniform or jersey is subject to discipline and/or dismissal from the program.
  1. TRANSPORTATION

Parents are responsible for transporting cheerleaders to and from all events (practices/games/competitions).

  1. ATTENDANCE POLICIES

As a member of the Kell Junior Cheer Program, you are required to contribute your part. When one person is absent the whole squad suffers and cause ineffective practice time. As a result, the following attendance rules are necessary and will be enforced:

  • Cheerleaders MUST schedule appointments around all cheerleading activities. Note: Cheerleaders duties are often scheduled with little advance notice. Early release from or late arrival to practices and/or performance is unacceptable.
  • Cheerleaders MUST be present at all practices, performances, sign painting sessions, camps, competitions and any other activities designated by the KJC Board.
  • If a cheerleader is absent from school and are not able to provide a doctor’s note excusing them from cheer then they are required to attend the practice/game/event wearing the designated clothing/uniform.
  • Excused absences are:
  • Death in the family.
  • Signed doctor’s excuse that indicates time and date of the sickness.
  • School related trips.
  • Any other excused absences are at the discretion of the coach and/or KJC board and will be addressed on an individual basis. These absences MUST be approved by the coach and KJC board at least 24 hours prior to the missed practice, game, competition or event.
  • If a cheerleader is seen by a doctor for an injury that affects her ability to cheer, a signed doctor’s note must be submitted to the KJC board.
