On behalf of the Association of Corporate Counsel ("ACC"), welcome to the ACC and the ACC Health Law Committee (“HLC”). The HLC’s mission is to provide individuals with an interest or expertise in the healthcare industry with relevant materials, training, and resources to help them keep apprised of emerging legal and business trends impacting the industry. As an HLC member, we encourage you to take advantage of the various networking and educational opportunities offered by the HLC, including monthly calls and Legal Quick Hit presentations from legal experts practicing in the healthcare industry. An overview of the services offered by ACC and the HLC, including information about the website, useful resources, and opportunities to get involved include:

•Monthly HLC Meeting:Monthly teleconference for one hour on the first Tuesday of every month at 12 PM ET (Toll free dial-in: 877.647.3411; Participant Passcode: 469 073 8617). Meeting involves brief discussion of committee business followed by a 30-45 minute interactive legal “quick hit” that focuses on relevant health care topics. Meeting agendas can be accessed through the Health Law Committee eGroup.

•Webcasts:Access to both HLC and other committee webcasts archived on the ACC website.Information can be obtained at

•HLC eGroup:An online forum used to ask and answer questions of other HLC members. TheHLC eGroupis world’s largest online community of in-house healthcare industry lawyers.

•Networking:You will receive invitations to join other HLC members at the ACC Annual Meetingand to attend our annual committee social event at the Annual Meeting. The HLC also offers opportunities to connect online, over the phone, and in person for health law focused training, in-person local networking events and professional growth and development opportunities.

•Leadership Opportunities: The committee offers many opportunities for leadership involvement, including participation on our executive team and on sub-committee and subject matter advisory group leadership positions, as well as speaking and publication opportunities in the ACC Docket. We also have opportunities for local networking event coordinators.

•Pro Bono Opportunities:The committee has started a new initiative to run half day pro bono clinics around the country focusing on health law issues.

•Advocacy:The committee is planning a two-day advocacy summit in Washington D.C. which will involve meeting with regulators from many agencies affiliated with Health and Human Services, including most likely the: FDA, CMS, OCR (for HIPAA issues) and OIG.

•ACC Resources:Each of the following resources are also relevant for ACC Health Lawyers: The ACC Docket magazine, ACC’s In-house ACCess blog, the ACC Member-to-Member Community, the Online Library of legal resources, continuing education and CLE opportunities at the ACC Annual Meeting, and access to health industry jobs through the ACC In-house Jobline℠,
